Ah brilliant :-)

For some reason I assumed it was only a half season loan!

The forward was transfer listed at the end of last season after spending the second half of the campaign with Colchester United.

I hadn't realised that he was transfer listed. Clearly that means Donnie won't offer him a contract, because he'd possibly sign it just to keep a wage. The contract would have to be the same or better for Doncaster to get any compensation, so that's not happening.

However, presumably another club could come in and offer Doncaster some cash in January, leading to him being recalled and sold (assuming he wants to go wherever it is?)

Or, being an optimist, we could offer to take him from Doncaster on a free in January? He's happy at Morecambe and decides a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush?

No question about signing him if at all possible. It's not every day that we get the chance to offer such a player a contract BUT I suspect that his agent will possibly get him a lucrative deal elsewhere BUT would Mandy be happy and guaranteed first team action week in week out as he will with our club? I heard that money has never been the driving force with Mandy and that he's a career in law if things ever went pear shape so maybe the assurance of regular action could be the deciding factor?

Time to catch up on Mandy:
How did he play against Carlisle?
Does the manager still play him on the wing?
Does Mandy still have to track back and defend? That's Mandy's poor side defending and tackling for me.

It seems to me that Morecambe is now getting the best out of him but I think he can offer more what do you think?

I will say it again I have no connection with Mandy at all its just that I think we treated him very badly at Donny and I think given the right support he could play at a higher level than Donny and prove them wrong.

Is there a better player in league 2(in his position) ? I doubt it , awesome performance yesterday, he was kicked, body checked, elbowed, and still came up with a performance which would not have looked out of place in the championship, at the end he came off battered and bruised, instead of the usual handshake from the opposition, they gave him a man hug,as if to say you were a bloody handful today mate

Colchester were pulling and shoving him all match with little protection from the referee.

He is too good for league 2 and I fear someone higher up will sign him next Summer.

I saw Mandeville limping off the pitch at the end looking far from happy shaking his head , is this another injury to add to the growing list ?

He got cramp just as the final whistle blew , so hopefully not another for the list.

We used to get updates on injuries in the programme at one time but this seems to have gone.

I think Steve Old will struggle to displace either Lavelle or Yarney who both were excellent yesterday.

That’s the sort of problem that Jim definitely won’t mind having. Lavelle for me has been brilliant, absolutely solid as a rock.

Contrary to most opinion, I thought Mandeville was a bit below his best yesterday. Still a very good, battling performance, but one or two stray balls, just something that he rarely does.
Absolutely quality player, always very assured on the ball.

If they don't announce anything in January, then we'd not be able to offer him anything then either, unless we're prepared to pay compensation. If it goes until his contract runs out next summer and he's then released, he'll be touted around all over the place and we won't be able to afford him.

Our best hope is that Doncaster allow us to offer a contract in January on the basis that he'd be released by them, and he believes that coming to us is the best way to revive his career. If not, then we need to just enjoy having hime here until next summer.

*I'm assuming his Doncaster contract runs out next summer?

Not wanting to be pessimistic but I fear we may not get to enjoy him until the Summer. If he continues impressing for us you would think other clubs would be in for him in January when his loan deal expires.

I thought it was a season long loan ?

He better had be or i want me money back ;)

Thank you to everyone who has posted a comment on Mandy. I have a running post on our forum, with over 12000 views, which irritates a section of our supporters who for whatever reason never rated Mandy. I hope that Mandy proves them wrong and Morecambe get the benefit of a gem of a player who I think has been treated very badly by Donny.

Please keep the comments coming after each game I am sure Mandy reads them, they all do.

Quality players make a quality team. If our 'new' owners want this then they should start making funds available for this, even though as stated wages are not the issue. IMHO Jim cannot be expected to try and sign every player on a free if we are to progress.

Hi,

How did Mandy play today against Yeovil Town? from what little I have heard he played well again.

Was he still playing on the wing?

I think he was subbed, why?

We all think managing a football team is easy, we all want more money or wonder why our budget isn't bigger and question why more isn't made available. It's easy to answer really........because our club revenue isn't big enough this is why they bang the drum about reaching an average attendance of around 2000 and utilising the corporate side as much as possible plus we were once upon a time going to build offices above the open terrace, I presume but don't know for sure that rent from this would be included in club revenue as an income?
See attached for an insight, not as clear cut as everyone thinks and you can see why Jim performs miracles on the budget he gets which can't be increased by much unless the club revenue increases and another reason why a good cup run means so so much to a smaller club like ours. Fleetwood built a new ground and included offices which on paper pay rent and are included as an income. Very clever in my opinion

He had another excellent game. Superb pass to A-Jay for our first goal. He was fouled for the penalty that would have put us 2-0 up had we scored it.

I think he was subbed because we were hanging on a bit and Yeovil were looking like equalising so Jim took Mandy off to put a holding midfielder on and it worked.

In a nutshell GS. The lad is in my opinion..” worth his weight in gold.” Always the potential to do something special at any point during the game.
Man of the match last home game as well.

He had a few classy touches but otherwise I thought he had a quiet game. Oates was livelier on the opposite flank, hence Mandy gave way for the substitution.

I'd have rather he stayed on rather than bring in Kev to replace him. At least Liam can defend.

Hi fellow supporters,

I have had this topic running for sometime now and, as yet, no negative comments about Mandy. You must have some criticism of Mandy to ballance the glowing comments so far made.
Here as some of then ones from our supporters:

Not fit enough,

Not consistant,

Not interested.

I don't think Mandeville is dedicated to the cause of professional football

He obviously has ability but in all honesty, he never did enough consistently at DRFC to impress me.

IS THIS THE SAME PLAYER AT MORECAMBE?

lOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR OPINIONS.

He was clearly unfit when he came here, the Crewe game highlighted that but we were collectively crap that day anyway. Jim is good at handling "lost" players and you can now see a confident Mandy who never stops running for the cause.
You can see he's enjoying it here and will probably know the consequences of stepping out of line.
Hopefully we can hang onto him for an extended period
Enjoy yourself.... It is later than you think
