Paul Merson on Sky Sports...

Long standing fans have complaints but thank goodness the majority still attend on match days unlike some who call themselves fans but can't be arsed a couple of hours a week to stand on the terraces despite their feelings of negativity towards the club.

They will be amongst the first to shout the loudest if the club ever folds.

Obviously not, that’s why I asked the question. What are the differences?

I can't even be arsed answering that. In fact, I can't believe I've just bothered typing this? Are you quite new to this Club and it's complaints from long standing fans?

Salford?? You some sort of glory hunter, following a team which win more often than not, purely down to the millions of pounds being thrown in their direction. Might as well follow Man City as well, then you'll be really happy. A club should be for life through thick and thin. If you think things are a bit thin now watching Morecambe you should have been about when the club was on its knees in the 80's.You can only really appreciate the good times when you've suffered the lean times. To be honest mate the club is well rid of an oaf like you. Enjoy the glory hunting.

And you are one of the main reasons if gave up on Morecambe. Was only voicing my own and hundreds of others opinions, but hey.... crack on. Hope we stay up, but like others, not that arsed really!!!! What a constructive response to all of us that have found better ways to spend our pounds. I don't come any more because it's shit, full stop.

Apologies to all concerned. Sorry, I really mean that. I just hate the 'we don't need people like you' opinion. Because you bloody do!

Moose has obviously had a "sniff of the barmaids apron", and may review his posts today and realise that his potty mouth has negated his rambling argument, good luck at Salford, Moose , hardly any of the fans supporting the other 2 big Manchester clubs are locals either !!

Moose why are you getting so uptight about the running of the club. I understand you are a lifelong season ticket holder and love (loved) the club very much. However you obviously didn't like what happened following the move to the Globe and you decided to vote with your feet. Fair enough but that should be the end of it. It's up to the club to decide if they want to entice fans like you back to the ground but that's their problem not yours.
Chill.

I'm not sure I agree with this. I think fans being passionate & frustrated is understandable. I also think that any business that wants to thrive, especially in challenging economic times SHOULD listen to their customers, and in particular their ex-customers as to why they are unhappy. Not everything that is complained about can be or even should be changed. People who will never be happy without a return to Christie Park, will simply never be happy and are pretty much lost forever. Some fans will never accept financial and other limitations on the team management, regardless of the explanations given. They are unlikely to return very easily, or if they do, it will be because things change, or we get a great FA Cup run, etc.

But there are lots of ex-regular now part time fans, who frequently express why they have stopped coming and there is a clear theme. The issues could easily and relatively cheaply be addressed. Any business that receives what is in effect 'market research' of this type, free of charge and still, stubbornly & repeatedly refuses to listen, is heading for disaster. That should bother all of us. When ex-customers remain passionate about the business, then it suggests that there probably wouldn't be too much effort required to bring them back in to the fold.

I actually think that Jim and Co have listened to fans about the style and standard of football seen over previous seasons and have with added funds albeit limited responded by a change in style and approach. gone is the hoof ball to be replaced with more 'on the deck' and attack minded football. OK results haven't to date warranted the improvement in performances but that will come in time as long as we continue along this improvement in style and substance.

As for the long running saga about the ground without a major injection of cash I can't see what more can be done and then one has to ask would any major injection in cash be justified with the average gates we get :?: For me and I could be alone in this but the answer is a definite NO... :!: :!: :!:

I would rather spend whatever cash is available on securing our EFL status year on year in the hope that sooner rather than later our league position would improve by playing good football which in turn could see an increase in gates and would see a less reliant on investors to secure our long term future.

I believe Moose has his heart in the right place and feel his frustrations.
It can never be as it was at Crusty Pie, that's the past, but a better match day experience with some decent football would help.
The amount spent on the ground for the home end and Berlin Wall is pitiful compared to the main stand. I have always felt that if we had taken the North Stand down and rebuilt it, it may have cost more but at last it was something we were all proud of and loved. At the time, the club were told it wasn't possible, but Exeter has just bought and erected a cover from Barnet?
However, that's gone, so listening to fans over bar prices, before and after the game, and improving facilities and service in the Ace stand are happily in the pipeline according to the Trust.
Just winning a few home games on the bounce would be bold too. Performances and the football has improved immeasurably this season, but a decent striker, even in the Miller, Mullin, Redshaw style, would be bagging a few and pulling us up the division.
Vadaine is better, but he still won't get you the goals, so perhaps it's time for Oswell??
Just thoughts!
As for the fans who have voted with their feet, perhaps a cup run might tempt a few back, and hopefully with the style of the new team, encourage them to stay.
With silence emanating from the boardroom, perhaps a new era on the pitch need s to be the catalyst for a positive change??

Freez makes an excellent point about the transfer of the North Stand to the new Globe, but I wonder if the cost was so prohibitive at the time to rule it out. I doubt that the Board at the time would have made any calculation without some guidance from the developers and bearing in mind that the budget had to be reduced it's unlikely that the cost of transferring the stand would have made financial sense as the club needed to look at ways to deliver within the financial constraints at the time.

I would like to believe that the Board would have preferred to transfer the stand but the cost was so far off budget that it became impossible. As like everything in life It became a question of getting the best out of the diminishing budget and although far from perfect the move from CP was necessary but hopefully certain assurances given about new investment at the rear of the ACE Stand come to fruition as a matter of urgency.

To be fair i remember the Club saying the North Stand was hardly full and that making a Smaller Stand would help create better atmosphere, and at the time thought it made sense.

I'm more bugged about the carwash/berlin wall with no roof after all the money what was thrown about.

To be fair, with some strengthening to the wall on the open side, a roof could be attached at very little cost, compared to a complete rebuild!
That could be something for the Trust in the future to help with?

I told you years ago that the spirit of JBC himself has cursed the globe arena...it needs exorcism...all this was predicted...He wants peace but cannot move on to the afterlife until his wishes are carried out.

He's certainly moved now!

That was never going to happen as the club had no money to build it in the first place. You can't get 100% bank loans for new buildings, and the bigger the loan, the more the interest and capital repayments which would have eaten the rents earned. Another of his grand ideas.

I along with a few others was at a meeting when Nigel explained his former company's plans to relocate to new offices at the Globe. From what he implied the funding for any new development was going to be his company's responsibility. However as we all know Nigel's company was taken over by a larger organisation so those well meaning plans have been shelved.

I've seen him on the Berlin Wall a few times but seems to be back in the Directors box these days.
