Grass isn't greener...

Seeing Jordan Burrow briefly in the York City FA Cup highlights, I wonder if he ever regrets his decision to reject us and go to Stevenage instead?

With players like Mandeville (hopefully) at least being offered a contract here when he's released by Doncaster, I hope he'll see a future with us and continued development, then move on like Tom Barkhuizen or Aaron McGowan rather than a quicker pay rise but risk slipping away again?

So how did that work out then?

We always seem to get penuts for our better players, or lose them for nothing.

i wonder if we'll ever see in our lifetimes one of our players go for over the 1 Million mark?

Just thinkwhat you could do with that money.

I think Sam Lavelle will be our first huge transfer fee received.

I'm probably wrong, but didn't we release Burrows rather than him turning us down. Then we all had a big shock when he got a League 1 club

From my recollection, he was offered a reduced terms contract which he turned down.
Agree that we were all surprised when he went up a league though!

What sort of figure did we get for Barky when he went to P.N.E.

Agreed, but those peanuts got us out of a sticky situation at the time . If we had more bargaining power at the time I'm sure the figure would have been substantially higher !

Believe it was a bit less - £150k. As has been said above it was outside the transfer window to bail us out from yet another cliff edge, so we had little room to argue.

The problem with the deal was the sell-on fee. My understanding, and Jim said it publicly at the time, was also lower than it could have been. If Barky had set the world on fire and sold for £3 million a bigger sell-on fee would have made a huge difference.

Preston could have offered 50k and we would have had to take it at that time. So fair play that we got 150k, as they knew we were in the shit.
And we have 15% Sell on I was told, so if they get 5 million that would be useful!! :D
