Everybody is gutted tonight but what would have been even worse would have been the loss of EFL status.
We live to fight on to retain our status once again. The money would have helped but its gone so we've got to get behind the lads and the new Board and fight together to improve out lot.

The money could well have enabled Jim to bring in a couple of decent players to secure league status. Without it, we may well be stuck with the current squad who can only scrape the odd goal when they get a lucky break. I'm starting to get really worried. Can't imagine the new owners are happy tonight.

Just read the match text and it's obvious that are shooting is either off target or too high. Rarely do we get a shot on target which suggests that we need to work on that side of our game a hell of a lot more than it would appear we do. Time after time during home games I've shouted out. SHOOT, only for Jim to give me a look of total annoyance at what I've pleaded for.

Not being at the game, I can only suspect that our strikers didn't have the luck they needed but it was significant reading the text how infrequent the name of Oliver was mentioned. It would appear that our management team have a lot of faith in him so the likely hood of him being replaced is marginal which for me is wrong. It's time for Oswell to be given an extended run with Mandy playing a central role and not out on the wing.Maybe time Thommo was back also.

It's nothing to do with luck - tonight was all about quality and we showed none of it.

Pretty much every single ball into the box was over-hit, play was lethargic and predictable, and shooting was tame and usually off-target.

Not good enough and yet another FA Cup game where we haven't showed enough desire to win. They didn't deserve any clapping at the end - and only a few obliged.

What a load of crap.Fine Lines my arse, ....ing chasms.Thank god we were not playing a team from the top of the Conference,we would have been hammered .Manderville was so bad, he would struggle playing for Millhead. Passing from the whole team tonight was abysmal with no player confident enough to take control.Something needs to change, because the attacking options are not working and you cannot keep doing the same thing over and over again.

I can accept getting beat but I cant and wont accept a lack of effort, that first half performance was totally unacceptable worse than Crewe in my opinion constantly backing off and not pressing the opposition allowing them to run into the box and get a shot in on goal, amateur defending and no movement off the ball, once again it happens in a game where we really needed to get a result.

The second half was better only because it couldn't get any worse but there was no quality in and around the box the amount of crosses put in that were over or under hit or behind the players in the box was criminal. We could have played all night and not scored.

First half was some of the worst I've seen from us in a long time. In defence, we were so poor - just completely sat back and let them do whatever they wanted. Especially Kosylo who probably felt like Messi by the end of the half.

Second half was miles better. Especially after Tutte came on. Cranston didn't really do anything wrong but Tutte is just that calming influence in midfield. Just plays simple little passes to start attacks instead of overhitting long panic passes. Oates was excellent as well. Had a lot of success up the right and linked well with Mills.

We are absolutely crying out for a poacher of a striker who can get on the end of some of the endless balls that those two were swinging in from the right. We barely did anything in their box despite getting the ball in fairly often.

I actually thought Halifax were pretty good. Their defence was very organised and they had some good attacking players. So it's not as bad as it looks. First half was awful though.

I think we need a proper "captain" on the pitch to give the lads some proper control & direction.

Even when Baz is playing, he's not really effective from so far back and can't direct the attack etc.

We need someone who's going to take control, either a defender or a defensive midfielder.

Having Jim shout randomly from the sidelines is no substitute for a decent captain.

I'd suggest Tutte and Kenyon from the lads we've got.

I was worried all along that this would be another Dagenham & Redbridge re-visited....

Sadly, I was proved right.

So frustrating. So disappointed.....

Firstly, a massive “well done” to the great number of supporters that were able to turn out last night, and make for an exciting pre-match build up.
The blue touch paper was lit, then inexplicably and frustratingly Morecambe fizzled out like a damp squib. For me, that starting team, have shown, and should have had the ability to beat an average non league side like Halifax. They just didn’t turn up, especially in that 1st half. Credit where it’s due, Halifax showed that they REALLY wanted it, and Morecambe didn’t match them. The players are there to do the job on the pitch, and they just didn’t, anywhere on the park. They let themselves down, Jim down, and most importantly, the fans down.
Here we go............JB out debate again.

Just as things seemed brighter , a couple of local guys who are proper MFC fans take over as Co Chairmen. League results take a turn for the better with 10 points from the last 6 games and an unbeaten away run of 5 games yielding 11 points. Some long lost fans seemed to be finding their way back to The Globe after years of giving up on The Shrimps.
Then our old nemesis the FA Cup turns up and we find ourselves unable to score a goal in 180 minutes against a team with 1 Conference win since August and that was against bottom of the table Dover , who ironically enough beat us in the FA Cup a few years back.
In retrospect it would have been better to have been drawn against one of the stronger teams from League One. Then we wouldn't have had this dreadful anti-climax yet again.

I only saw the goal on the BBC live text updates last night but couldn't believe their man got to the long ball ahead of three defenders who were nearer to it. They just let him take it and run at them.

I was eager to make my way to the game from Leeds but was unfortunately working, lucky me?

I may be in the minority here, but having watched the highlights it's not as depressing as I thought from the reaction on here. Some of our build up play was really, really nice. Yes, we lacked a clinical edge most certainly in the final third but fair play to Halifax - they pulled off some brilliant 'bodies on the line' bits of defending. Their goal and chances seemed to come from us just being horribly sloppy, which obviously is not on but I did think we still played some nice football.

Obviously, missing out on the money makes the defeat hurt a lot more and even more so if you made the trip over, but I am not overly worried by what I saw on the highlights. Our players made sloppy errors and did stupid things, but that strikes me as more of an 'on the night' kind of syndrome. It's gutting but thinking back to Dover, Dag & Red etc we genuinely didn't have a look-in at all in those games. In this, (I believe, from the highlights) we played some nice football and let ourselves down in our tightness (being so sloppy etc) at times. I don't think the problem is as bad those other two aforementioned matches.

Highlights always tend to flatter, haven’t watched them, but was at Halifax on Tue. The Morecambe team I watched on Sat must have stayed on the Coach from FGR, because they weren’t on The Shay pitch. You are definitely right though mate, “on the night kind of syndrome.” Confident the lads will be back on track Sat. COYS.
