Point taken, black morse, Kieth.

I really don't see Mandy coming back. Many views expressed on our forum 18 months ago were very negative and the verbal abuse he received from the South Stand morons did nothing for his confidence. Even with the positive comments about Mandy at Morecambe means nothing to Mandy's knockers at Donny, they still don't think he is good enough.

I don't see Mandy coming back to Donny and I think he is too good to stay in the 2nd division. I would suggest you sign him quickly and make a few bob when a bigger club comes in for him.

Mandy has something to prove and he has started to do it, at Morecambe, and I am pleased for the kid.

When Barry Roche came to us ten years ago, his confidence was shattered. The abuse he received from Chesterfield morons was unrelenting. A decade later, and the old man is still one of the top 'keepers in League Two, yet some of the Chesterfield morons still think he's rubbish. I don't know if Mandeville would want to return to Donnie with the treatment he experienced.

Keith,
There is no problem with the players they are an extremely nice bunch its just the supporters and for some unknown reason the managers, Fergy and now McCann. There is no doubt in my mind Mandy is a gem. The only reason for him coming back to Donny is to prove a point, but its not going to happen. The moment he has a bad game the morons will be on his back.

There has been an incredible amount of interest in my Mandy topic with over 15000 views on our forum, but not many comments.

I wasn't there, but all reports seem to say it just wasn't quite happening for him - likely because we were more on the back foot.

I think it does need to be considered that players of Mandeville's ilk (ones there to create) are inevitably going to have some games when they drift. Attacking players like him are judged on their tangible output, and when things aren't falling their way etc they will often get the hook for another option. Generally seems to be how it is for that style of player.

I was there, and yes, we were absolutely under the cosh for most of the game. But for me Mande was playing his part within it,trying to make things happen where and when possible. He also had a couple of decent shots on goal. As I have said before, for me he is a player who has the potential to turn a game at any point. He also got a couple of compliments on the FGR forum. Disappointed for the lad.

If this were only so, it would be a massive coup for the club. That goal against Bury was stunning and definitely no fluke. Mandeville for years to come? YES!

Another example of the morons we have at Donny. When Mandy was off form he took a lot of stick from the morons, pathetic. I have yet to see any player benefit from stupid comments shouted out from the stands its encouragement they need.

Our top striker, with 9 goals this season, who is going through a quiet spell as all strikers do, is getting abuse shouted at him from the stands. As a result he storms off the pitch at the end of the game shouting back at the idiot abusing him. Marquis had just scored our 7th goal in that game and it was one of his best at the club, yet he still gets abuse from the stands. Its only a small number of idiots buts its enough to destroy someone like Mandy.

Don't come back Mandy stay at Morecambe where you are appreciated.

Unfortunately aimh, that sort of thing happens at every football club, including Morecambe, and I totally agree, that shouting abuse at players from the stands, achieves absolutely nothing positive.

As you will probably be aware, Morecambe were involved in a, to put it politely,” lack lustre “ effort against Halifax on Tue night. I am a big fan of Mande, but for me, he had his worst game in a Morecambe shirt, since the drubbing we took at Crewe in the opening match of the season. I feel that he holds a big responsibility for Halifax scoring their goal. A few fans on the forum have since started to post a few negative comments, which they are entitled to do. That said, I am confident that he is, and will continue to be appreciated at Morecambe.

Mande, stay with The Shrimps.

Slanester,

I was not surprised with Mandy's pathetic attempt to tackle in the build up to their goal. I have said many times that Mandy's strength is not in tackling and he is a nightmare when it comes to tracking back. He should be stuck behind the front two in a 4-3-1-2. That is his strength to split the defence with his intricate passes and of course the occasional great goal, but there again I am not the manager just a supporter with an opinion.

As you say aimh, tracking back, tackling and physicality are not his forte. That said, I still feel that this season he has shown grit and a willingness to get stuck in, oftain under some heavy, not totally legal “flack” from our opponents.
I think you are correct though. Mande’s real strengths.......well read, accurate, cutting passes, along with that element of “trickery” he has with the ball at his feet, would serve us even better, if he played in a more central attacking roll.

A striker who needs help up front and a fancy dan who doesnt muck in (not my words)....but I get the sentiment , Jim started his tenure saying he wanted players who would run through a brick wall for the club...do we have a player that cant hit one and a player that hides behind one?

That’s fine, your opinion, and definitely your words. Not an assessment that can be gleaned from the previous 2 posts above yours.

Ok correction. Your, and a.n other’s opinion, which I repeat, is fine. Everybody has one. As for the point on match attendance?? I also attend every home game, and a majority of away games, family life permitting. That doesn’t make an opinion any more definitive, just based,on plenty of game time time watched, and assessed. Everyone to their own.

And I never said you did.

Forums, and footy discussion would be so boring if we all had the same thoughts and opinions. So I for one, am glad we don’t.

Something that I am sure we can agree on with regard Mande. If he plays his part in a win for The Shrimps tomorrow, we will both be very happy for the lad, and even more so for the team. COYS.

Thanks for the supporting views Slanester. I still have one or two of our supporters who still say Mandy is not good enough for Donny. AS I see it Mandy is doing well and would hold his own in the first division provided he is played to his strengths and not plug holes in defense.

Our issue is often if we are leading with 20 minutes to go, particularly at home and the away team are attacking us, we put every man and his dog within 25 yards of our goal line, all of a sudden our attackers are expected to be defenders with often painstaking consequences.
We would be far better attacking/defending in the opponents half. Similarly when we are behind and need a goal in the last 15 minutes, we play with 5 attackers and no midfield, so none of them really get a supply, nor seem to know what their positions are
Enjoy yourself.... It is later than you think
