We would be far better attacking/defending in the opponents half. Similarly when we are behind and need a goal in the last 15 minutes, we play with 5 attackers and no midfield, so none of them really get a supply, nor seem to know what their positions are

Yep, inviting them onto us, dont mind getting players behind the ball but the defensive line is normally too deep.

Slanester, Marky, and others.

Could you add to this topic after each game with your views on how Mandy played? My topic on our forum has got over 16500 views now but opinions are split.

AS far as I am aware nobody with the exception of me have seen Mandy play this season so all our forum views are based on 18 to 22 months ago when Mandy's confidence was low.

At one stage we had posters offering to place bets that Mandy would be successful at Morecambe the doubters backed down. One reason I am so passionate about Mandy and wanting him to do well is that he is "one of our own", a local boy who came through our junior section and I think there is better to come from him.

Its happening again. Mandy off, 1.0 down, 10 minutes to go and 4 or 5 strikers with 1 defender
Enjoy yourself.... It is later than you think

Mandy had another poor game, although he wasn't alone. Speaks volumes when the player who replaced him for the last half an hour got Man of the Match!

Probably wouldn't have been my first choice to be subbed, but he was poor today. Looked anonymous in the middle, had one spark with a long shot. His crossing, especially from corners, was dreadful.

Still looks lively, I'm sure he'll bounce back especially if he had a dangerous out ball to work with.

Mandy is becoming a scapegoat. How you could single him out as poor in that first half is beyond me.

Not scapegoat at all, but this thread is about Mandeville! He's being "singled out" by virtue of being the subject of the thread. Do you think that he wasn't poor today?

If you want to start a thread for each other player who was on the pitch today, you won't find many not being described as having a 'poor game'! Tutte worked hard. Ellison made a difference when he came on. Lavelle was okay (although I think he was probably at fault for their goal, but not 100% sure if it was him?)

The whole team were below par again against a poor Notts County. I'm still a Mandeville fan and know he'll come back strong... I just hope he comes back strong soon!

A quiet first half for Mande, but definitely not on his own. Second half,he started like a different player. Invloved in our two most threatening bits of play all game, within minutes........then gets subbed AGAIN. He is going to get well pi$$ed off if it carries on.

Agreed. Not singling Mandeville out, but I was looking forward to seeing if playing in the middle gave him a bit more freedom, and he didn't have a good game. I'm sure he'll be back on form soon, but today he was way off it.

He was better in the second half, but didn't even get 10 minutes so impossible to judge!

Thanks for all the comments. Looks like a bad game for Mandy and the manger tried him in a central role position. All players have bad games and Mandy is no exception to that rule. I hope the manager sticks with him in a central role Mandy will come good its encouragement he needs now not stick.

Once our players are fit again I doubt we'll see Mandeville play centrally again, unless it's up-front. His best games for us have been out wide, and we have plenty of central midfielders.

I personally think that references with regard Mande today....”poor,” “bad,” “dreadful,” are a bit harsh. Taken from another thread...”ineffective” in the first half is a fairer summation. Started much more threatening in the second half, and isn’t given time to maybe build on it??

Very happy for the legend, that man Kevin Ellison.

The system wasn't the best for Mandy. The middle was very compact with hardly any room to move. Other teams will watch our games and its pretty obvious he is our only spark. He is closed down pretty sharpish. Going back to the system, it looked horribly like the 7-0-3 of last season.

Hi you Shrimps,
Thank you for posting your opinions on Mandy. My topic on our forum has now had over 17000 views.

I am taking a lot of stick from a small number of our posters, the ones who are adamant that Mandy is not good enough for Donny. They go on to say that I am biased in favour of Mandy and that from people who have not seen him play for nearly two seasons!!!

I have always made it clear to everyone that I rate Mandy and any information I glean on his performances, good or bad, I post.

If I posted only good comments then yes I could be called biased. But I don't and in fact if you read back I have asked for negative comments because there were so many positive ones being made.

I think you may sense that Mandy has a lot of critics and is probably the reason he will not be coming back to Donny.

Reading the match preview for tonight’s game against Mk, it states, unsurprisingly, that Mande is top of the list for Morecambe assists. Admittedly, The Shrimps aren’t scoring many goals, but still another endorsement for the lad, and for what he does for the team. Keep it up Mande.

I think he's rated as second highest in league 2 for assists

Makes even more sense to hook him after 50mins when you can't buy a goal. Almost as Barmy as playing Barky at right back.

Agree with you totally on that one BW. Think JB is getting that one wrong too.

Played well when he came on, creating a lot of space and moving all around the pitch. Thommo was playing wide, but Mandeville had more freedom when he replaced him. But, there was no real final ball. He did put A-Jay in nicely once but A-Jay's shot was poor. I think I'd have preferred to see Mandeville on with Oswell, then Thommo when Oliver came on?

Hi,
I found it very disappointing to read on the BBC site that Morecambe seem to have a money problem and delaying payment of your players, not a good sign.

Thank you to everyone who are keeping me up to date on Mandy.

Was Mandy injured and that was the reason for starting on the bench?, or needed a rest?
are the players being affected by late payments?

Alright aimh.
As you may be aware? The late payment of wages at Morecambe has been an issue before in the past couple of years. It is obviously causing unease among the fans, especially as it wasn’t too long ago that we went into new ownership. Hopefully it is just a “blip,” for whatever reason?

Back to the all important football. Mande on the bench against MK, was for me, a bit of a surprise. There has been nothing said, or reported, so not really sure of the reason why. Needs to be playing, don’t want him to start getting disillusioned. That said, scrapping for you place can be a good thing, and have a positive effect for some players. Is Mande one?

Everyone in football should have to earn their place in the team and Mandy is no exception. He is 21 now and should be able to accept that but what has concerned me in the past is that he couldn't cope with the rent a gob type ridiculeing his efforts from the stands. I can only think Mandy was on the bench Tuesday to give him a rest so it will brighten up his next game, time will tell.
