Can we have a statement from the club Owners as to what's happening.

I may get jumped on here but if the players have now been paid that is the most important thing. Do we fans really have to be told why? Surely a small glitch is an internal matter.

For me...NO! Others will have a different opinion.

There is an AGM of Shareholders in December which will be interesting to see how the new owners investment in our club has affected its financial position going forward.

Another point of note is, how did the media get to find out about the “late payment” issue??
Sometimes ignorance is bliss, especially for those who can not actually do anything about a situation, and ultimately, when nothing positive can come from it. This has understandably created unease among fans, but might just turnout to be a “storm in a teacup? “ A “storm” of no real significance, that none of us really needed to know about??

I presume you already are but, if not, you could join the Shrimps Trust.

The work Stuart and the trustees have done - bought equipment, the Legends Wall, the smoking area, the awareness raising, the regular emails etc. etc. has been brilliant and needs supporting.

If I didn’t get paid on time from my employer I would not be working for my employer come Monday. I’ve been stunned by the loyalty the staff and players have shown.

These are not people on huge sums of money and I’ve been in places where I’m not sure I’m going to be paid, or paid in full. It sits with you every day

Thanks to marky no. 1 for this excellent informative article on the financial analysis of a, at present, financially unsustainable football club -

http://priceoffootball.com/tag/morecambe/
"It’s always tricky to determine player wages but using our standard formula we estimate the average weekly wage was about £928"

Nine hundred and twenty eight smackers a week equates to an annual salary of 44,544 smackers!

Thats in my opinion SS a crazy amount for an EFL league division 4 professional football club and totally unsustainable for the Lancaster & Morecambe district.

Absolutely agree with your point with regard LOYALTY, SS. Something that some of our fans might do well to think seriously about, and consider.

As you say K, If figures are correct(?), then a decent salary for our players. But based on information elsewhere online(?),probably below the average for a Lge2 team. I have also heard of sums in the region of £3000/wk(?) for a player in Lge2 at a,”not so high profile,” but well financed club. The current situation at Morecambe, along with,so many supporters having, for their own good reasons, given up on the club, then it does seem.....”unsustainable for the Lancaster & Morecambe district.” Time will tell. COYS.

There could be a perfectly innocent explanation. I've done wages and BACS payments for payrolls in the past and when you arrange payment you have to put in a date when you want it transferring. Maybe somebody different did the pay last month and thought it was last day of the month rather than the 28th of the month.

Yet this is the problem. Maybe it's an innocent explanation, maybe there's a more serious one? Nobody knows because yet again fans are kept in the dark.

The thing is S, there maybe an underlying serious issue, or maybe not. The club could have easily covered either situation, serious or otherwise, by reporting..........clerical/ human error.....and the fans would still be none the wiser. The truth will always out in the bigger picture, in time.

It seems to me though, that some supporters just want grab hold of any negative baton, and run with it as far as they possibly can, even knowing that nothing positive can come from it. Can I add, that non of the 2nd point is aimed at you or your post.

The longer the silence from the management team/owners to fans and the newly formed Supporters Trust the more damage it will do to MFC.

Football clubs have to respect and be accountable to their fans if they are expecting their financial support. As any savvy businessman/woman will tell you "customer is king"

Loyalty is a two way street.

As for players salaries on that level of salary I would expect some sort of fair objective individual performance appraisal related pay system be in place - a KPI as Posh referred to on a previous thread created by the Hoff  Is there one in place at MFC this season?

Football club fans should never be taken for granted or disrespected by the management/owners of any football club. After all they are its true custodians, J B Christie understood that.

Point 1 Is the silence that you are referring to k, in relation to the most recent issue of wages being paid 2 days late, or something you feel as a “general rule of thumb,” at MFC??

Point 2 All businesses, which includes MFC, as you quite rightly say, “ have to respect and be accountable,” to their customers, “ if they are expecting their financial support.” Do you feel that this isn’t something that MFC understand, and endorse wherever possible, within the normal
constraints of business decision making?
“Customer is king,” is just one side of the coin. “Some customers are NEVER happy,” is the other. Something that any “savvy buisnessman/woman,” would also agree with, but might not admit to your face.

Point 3. Not sure what, how, or if a KPI works, but sounds quite a complicated system from you description. Will stand corrected.

Yes indeed. The club are always quick to tell us all "it's your club, be part of it", when they want something, but they want it as a one-way street hence the "mushroom" impression. The last few years has been a disaster in terms of fans/club relationships and despite the odd comment from the new owners or Rod, very little has changed in terms of communication.

The club issuing statements of intent and never seeing them through has been equally as damaging. Even the new lad came out bragging about the 3 big deals that were imminent but what have we heard since? From the doomed Chinese adventure to the cover behind the stand, we have been fed lip service. The clubs marketing, customer service and customer appreciation is a shambles. Even Rod's last post on here was damage limitation after the farce of the Halifax cup tie.

A journalist doing their job properly (see also Bolton Wanderers et al) and presumably a member of staff disgruntled about being paid late again or someone internally with an axe to grind or maybe one of the players when interviewed, just mentioned it.

Over the past few years I'd be happy to be kept in the dark given the boardroom circus we've had. Sadly, it wasn't disgruntled staff, fans or anyone else talking about Joseph Cala, Diego Lemos, Chinese investment, PFA bailouts etc. etc. it was the owners or authorities themselves. If the poo ever did hit the fan I hope we do get some advance notice, or, like Scarborough and Ru$hd£n & Diamonds, it could be too late for us or anyone else to do anything about it.
