I doubt it was that. Unfortunately, we don't have a game on Saturday so the players will all be doing their Christmas shopping this weekend.

Possibly he had a knock or simply needed a bit of focus after a couple of weaker games (by his high standard).

How did Mandy do today?
He had a full game today.
Plus a yellow card.
I thought the result was in the bag at 2-0 but that's football for you.
Donny's manager seems to have no interest in Mandy.

Played well, covered a lot of ground. Had a fantastic long range shot that the keeper did well to save. A few others were ahead of him in terms of MotM nominations, but by the same token, he had a good game. Points dropped, excellent first half.

Thought he was clearly targetted today by Port Vale who did their homework on us, which limited his effectiveness. Still managed to create a few chances, and made some clever plays as well (notably the free kick early in the second half). Also wanted to call out his defensive play, which I think has been his biggest weakness, but he put a lot of effort in today and it showed.

Yellow card came out of frustration after we conceded the two late goals. He should have taken a last-minute penalty as well in my opinion, he's our best set-piece taker. His corners have missed the mark lately but his free kicks are consistently dangerous.

Pretty much summed up in K and t-s comments. Not much to add, apart from, that his corners were generally good yesterday, and he had plenty to take. He was very much an integral part of a team, that I feel produced, one of the best, most dominant 45 mins of football, by The Shrimps, seen at The Globe in years. Long may it continue.

Thank you for your comment Sienester and the rest of the boys.

I am convinced that Mandy does not fit in with our clubs future plans, sad for me but good for you. I am trying to make your game at Northampton but I have commitments at home which could curtail that late on.

God, I hate the Visitor's web site  Is it just me (Safari on a MacBook) but I find adverts loading at different times and sizes, causing the text to bounce around and the advert right in the centre caused the text to bounce again when scrolling through. I gave up reading in the end.

Got the gist of it though and it is good news if it comes off, I'd like to see him on a permanent deal. As I've said previously on this thread, hopefully, even if offered more money elsewhere, he'd see his chances of substantial development better with us. Jim Bentley has a good record for resurrecting careers and he has Liam heading in the right direction again.

Big fan, as I have said on numerous occasions. JB sums the lad up well, and really hope he can get his signiature for the future. See him going from strength to strength, a great asset for The Shrimps. COYS.

aimh,
Couldn’t make the game yesterday, so here is a quote from our reporter there..”Liam Mandeville, extremely disappointing for a man of his undoubted talent.” A game where we really needed him to be at his best, but that’s football eh!

Slanester,

I think morale is probably a little low at the moment after that game. That Lincoln team is absolutely flying at the moment. The management team/brothers at Lincoln are superb, champions this year I think.

There was no shame to go down against Lincoln. Shackle was with us a few years ago, a superb CB and that goal he scored was fantastic. Then you have Akinde, we tried to buy him two years ago, a very good striker.

Chin up you guys, always look on the Brightside.

Keep the comments coming,

I have had over 18,000 views on the topic of Mandy. I still have a lot of anti me and Mandy comments but eh, I have a think skin.

I find it very sad we now have at least two replacements for Mandy so he will not be coming back to Donny.

A result, that in all honesty, The Shrimps fans expected, against a quality side, on their way to Div1.
Always hopeful, but have to be realistic though.

Being an MFC supporter, goes hand in hand, with looking on the brightside. If you can’t, then the only option is to follow a different team. :D Roll on Sat.

Came on after 57 minutes. Oates had played well but is just coming back from injury. Liam looked sharper than in recent games and was both tracking back to defend but also linking the front two nicely. Had a really good half an hour or so. Perhaps needed a bit of a rest? Perhaps he looked better coming on against a side that were getting tired, so he had that extra second or two? Everyone played well, including Liam. Good game and an excellent three points (and three superb goals!)

Sianester,
You have to get your priorities right!

A point that may be of interest when talking about youth football.

I played against Kevin Keegan at 13/14 years of age for my school team. It just so happend my form teacher was the Doncaster boys manager, Ken Hardy. Keegan was in the Doncaster boys squad but was never thought good enough to play for Doncaster. KH's only claim to fame is that he never selected Keegan who later went on to play for the likes of Liverpool, Hamberg and England to name a few.

So if your boy needs inspiring tell him about Keegan. KK wasn't spotted until he got the sack at Doncaster and then started his career at Scunthorp United, the rest is history.

Mandy set up the second goal and was involved with the build up for the 3rd goal. Not a bad contribution when you consider he came off the bench at 56m

Interesting little story and facts that aimh, thanks.

Not much to add this week, but I have noticed a few positive comments on the Morecambe fans Facebook
page. Going down to the Colchester game on the 29th, and will give my thoughts on here after it.

Hi Slanester,
I postered my usual comments from my research on our forum, which has now had over 21,000 views, and I still get abuse for showing an interest in Mandy. I have forgotten how many times I have told people if you have no interest in Mandy "Don't read the topic" and make negative comments, but they still do!

I am still planning to watch Morecambe at Northampton and its looking good at the moment.

I have had a read of your thread on the Donny forum. Some very personal and totally unnecessary posts, by some of their so called fans, in relation to you. You do very well to respond in the way you do, measured and respectful. Not sure I could for so long, and with some of the things that are said.As you say, read it if you are interested. If not, fine, don’t bother.

Going back to when Donny were in the Premiership. My mate’s lad was on their books for years, up to the age of 18. He was promised the earth, set to be offered a good contract, or so they said, and a few days before it was due to be sorted, dropped like a hot t¥rd. So a bit like Mande, he wasn’t really treated with the respect that he deserved by the DRFC management. Not sure if you will know of him, didn’t play any 1st team games, Jake Dawson.
Hope you make, and enjoy the Northampton game.
Merry Christmas.
