Thanks doc for another detailed match report. Missed the game today, due to being in bed with that very serious ailment....man flu. It definitely sounds like we were the better team, and would have fully deserved the 3 points. For me, the icing on the “ gutted cake,” is that the penalty was conceded by one of, if not the most consistent player this season, Mills.

I wouldn’t say this report was a fair reflection of what actually happened, Crewe much the better team in the first half - we were sluggish and they progressed the ball forward with ease.

Shrimps better in the second, lacking a striker to finish some of the good crosses that were being sent into the box (often their was literally nobody busting a gut to get forward, typified when Oates went through wide right, but nobody up with play to square the ball to). Fortuitous to equalise, given the referee played more advantage than they get in rugby league to bring the Hall back for a foul when Oates squandered a chance.

Having gone ahead through a brilliant finish from Kev late on (top marks for Old nodding down a Kenyon cross that had snow on it right into his path), criminal to not see it out. Poor from Mills (had a good season though) to give away a stupid and clear penalty (unsure why this was even a talking point post match, obvious push in the back).

Please note this does not mean I want to write match reports.

As I said, didn't make the match, so can only make an opinion from what is said by those that did.
Not saying you are wrong RRW, but the comments made by their manager, seem to suggest that he wasn't so convinced by Crewe's first half performance.
