No Oswell in the team, off to Wrexham?

Sometimes in life you just have to hold your hands up and admit you got it wrong and Jimbo definitely did with Amond both in not playing him in his best position and letting him go, as for using Barkhuizen as a reason for letting him go well that's the same player that was used as right back.
Oswell wasn't given enough opportunities in my opinion, lets hope this doesn't turn out to be a big error of judgement.

Barkhuizen was a right back at Blackpool, when Jim signed him, he played once at right back for us as a necessity, he was predominantly right wing back or right mid, or right of a front three, where he now plies his trade for PNE.
This persistence in this myth is a lie, he started as right back ONCE.
Kenyon has been in goal in three occasions, does that make him a regular keeper?? :D

There was a game where he started up front and was moved to right back so more than once.

Am sure i saw an interview with Barky where he said he was thinking of quitting football because he was being played at right back at blackpool.I also recall a home game where somebody got sent off or was injured in a game and he was moved to right back in a reshuffle, his face was a picture! So definitely more than once.

Can't afford Wrexham too far on petrol.... ;)

I'm really pissed off about Oswell not been given a decent run, but our loss their gain. Just hope we don't regret it, and that a replacement is experienced and not a development squad player from a league club.

Would love it if Oliver went as well ( in fact I'd somehow find the petrol money for him to go  ) and we could get Hanson and Dagnall in together..little and large partnership!

You get my point, you could say he's a centre back as he's played well there too!! :D

Some people are missing the point.

Barkauizen was our most dangerous player when we needed to score goals, id have rather the back up Goal Keeper come on at R/B to do a stop gap job while trying to get back into a game.

Its like Real Madrid playing Gareth Bale at L/B because he started his career there at Southampton.

I'm not saying he was a right back or liked playing there, He was best as an attacking right wing back or midfielder as he is at Preston, but sometimes needs must.
It's trotted out every now and again that he played there as if it was a regular occurrence which it wasn't, that's my point.
Some are using it as another stick to beat the management with, along with the perennial Podge moan, which is fair enough, just trying to give some perspective.

Whilst i think we have lost a young gem of a player in Oswell(time will tell)i felt mad when Oswell had been sold, but the point is Jim has found these players and has had to move them on because of supposedly lack of money.Getting to the end of the season without getting relegated is a priority. The last regime's really left us in a mess and a lot mistrust within the locality, so let's see the new owners making a bigger contribution to Jim's budget and come out openly and tell us whats happening and where we are heading to.

He's 26, so not that young. He needs to be starting regularly at his age, so if Jim doesn't want him as a first choice, then getting some cash for him is good business and right for Oswell too. I'm frustrated too, as I really thought that the game he played up front with Oliver, brought out the best in Oliver too and I really wanted to see them start together again. But for whatever reasons, including what he sees in training, Jim didn't see him as the answer, so getting money six months after signing him for free is not bad business.

You'll be right if, come the end of the season, we stay up.

I just hope that the next striker we sign gets more of a chance in the latter part of this season. I don't feel Jason got a fair chance (isn't the first, won't be the last) so his stats are pretty poor. Incidentally, he only stayed on the pitch more than 75 minutes on just 3 occasions this season. His average time on the pitch per match was just 40.8 minutes.

Strikers thrive on confidence and work best as a partnership. We have 2 current goalscorers (i.e. those I see as having a good goal return for this level) yet they don't play enough together and are chopped and changed every game. Rhys and AJ are more than good enough strikers for this division, yet neither are played in a proper striker's role, let alone together. I wouldn't mind seeing them given an extended run together to see what they can do.

Our forwards in L2 this season:
Oswell - 653 mins 1 goal (653/goal)
Oliver - 1454 mins 3 goals (484/goal)
Leitch-Smith - 1676 mins 6 goals (279/goal)
Ellison - 1118 mins 4 goals (279/goal)
Oates - 1039 mins 5 goals (207/goal)

Top L2 goalscorers:
James Norwood (Tranmere) - 1980 mins 15 goals (132/goal)
Jayden Stockley (Exeter) - 2104 mins 15 goals (140/goal)
Tyler Walker (Mansfield) - 1800 mins 11 goals (163/goal)
Padraig amond (Newport) - 1950 mins 9 goals (216/goal)
HOWAY THE SHRIMPS!!!!!

On topic(ish) and proud!
