Having just watched JB's post match interview it was interesting in the replay of our first half attack that our new striker No7 appeared to be operating in the midfield and not at the head of our attack alongside Oliver. It may have been an isolated occasion but for me a striker operates up top and in this case alongside Oliver so I can't understand why he was so far off the head of things.

It was also to note that once again our performance significantly improved in the final 45 after yet another awful first 45. Not sure if it's our pre match dressing room talk that results in a negative performance in the first period but there is something that causes such performances on such a regular basis.

Family and I were pondering the current 'game of two halves' issue, and we wondered if the lack of an effective team captain was part of the problem.
It seems as if the team don't know how to approach the game in the first half; they may have done analysis but they can't then put their plans into practice on the pitch. At half-time Jim has seen how it's going, gives them better directions on what to do and as a result they come out a lot more focused and play better. A captain's role should include taking the pre-match work on board and keeping the team focused on that from the off, but due to the injury crisis our first choice captains (Baz and Wildig) have been out for some time. Kenyon and Tutte seem to be our current choices, and while they both clearly have the commitment, are they really the best at reading the game? I think we are missing Wildig especially in this respect.
