Obviously that's ALL staff, not just players, but doesn't seem to show any substantial fall in the total wages paid by the club. I don't think we've seen lots of new staff off the pitch have we?

I think it means that an ex player shouldn't be appointed as manager should the opportunity ever arise because said player might have friends who are fans of the club and will potentially be shot down and castigated by other fans if said fan sticks up for new manager (ex player) should things go pear shaped.
Fans of the club who are also friends of the manager (an ex player) might then be told to "cough and support another club"....
As is happening now.
Is that kind of what you were saying Andy D ?
away fans on that average statistic are irrelevent to Morecambe fans doing one.Keith wrote:Andy D wrote:2010 an hardcore of 1900 and then in 2019 an hardcore of 900 = thats 1000 lost fans what have done one.
In a season where we finished fourth we had an average of 2,262.
Last season we had an average of 1,492 finishing third from bottom.
So we've lost 770 fans. I'd bet if we were in the play offs, we'd get most of those 700 fans back.
I suspect that we had a larger playing budget in 2010 than we have now by about 40%. Let's see a substantial budget increase so we can compete with other play-off teams and see what happens.

What I always fail to get my head around is that we're told that the playing budget is under £1m, probably around the £600k - £700k range.
If that's the case how on earth are we spending roughly £1m a year on staff who aren't players?
I'd love to see the wage figure in the accounts broken down into what areas that actually goes into as it would go someway to explaining where the club is haemorrhaging money.

I think that's about it but I would wager it's more than 25 excluding the players.
Since the move to The Globe the increase in staff over that when at The Pie is significant.
If I can dig out my last statement of accounts I seem to recall their being a figure put on the actual number of staff the club are responsible for. Whatever the final number is it requires a considerable amount of financing that at the moment due in part to the pitiful home gates is reliant on the financial goodwill of the current Board.

It would depend on the definition of "profit". It would be hard for it not to make a profit if you just took the direct staff and food/drink purchases as the costs. So what other costs are included? Bank charges for handling the cash and card processing? Part of premises costs such as insurance, power, rates, water? Part of administrative wages such as part of the receptionists wages? Without knowing what's included and what isn't, it's meaningless.
