Which of our injured players do we miss the most?

Total gross wages cost per accounts

Y/e 31/5/2011 £1,875,602
Y/e 31/5/2018 £1,855,390

Obviously that's ALL staff, not just players, but doesn't seem to show any substantial fall in the total wages paid by the club. I don't think we've seen lots of new staff off the pitch have we?

Our attendances this season are actually up a lot on last season.

Why let the facts get in the way eh Keith? 40% less on players? Making it up as you go along man

I think it means that an ex player shouldn't be appointed as manager should the opportunity ever arise because said player might have friends who are fans of the club and will potentially be shot down and castigated by other fans if said fan sticks up for new manager (ex player) should things go pear shaped.

Fans of the club who are also friends of the manager (an ex player) might then be told to "cough and support another club"....

As is happening now.

Is that kind of what you were saying Andy D ?

Yes, thats correct, forgot to put the word "told" before "to do one".

In a season where we finished fourth we had an average of 2,262.
Last season we had an average of 1,492 finishing third from bottom.

So we've lost 770 fans. I'd bet if we were in the play offs, we'd get most of those 700 fans back.
I suspect that we had a larger playing budget in 2010 than we have now by about 40%. Let's see a substantial budget increase so we can compete with other play-off teams and see what happens.
away fans on that average statistic are irrelevent to Morecambe fans doing one.

What I always fail to get my head around is that we're told that the playing budget is under £1m, probably around the £600k - £700k range.

If that's the case how on earth are we spending roughly £1m a year on staff who aren't players?

I'd love to see the wage figure in the accounts broken down into what areas that actually goes into as it would go someway to explaining where the club is haemorrhaging money.

As a rough count, I reckon we have about 25 non-playing staff at the club (backroom & medical, office/shop, functions/kitchen etc). I would imagine salaries would range from £16k (minimum wage) up to a L2 manager getting around £50k (?)

If you therefore weighted the average (assuming more at the lower end than the upper) at around £25k, then £25k x 25 staff would be around £625,000.

As a very quick test (and I haven't checked any of my figures) £600-700k seems about right to me.

As well as all the players and those with us on loan, their is the management team, goalkeeping coach, fitness coach, additional first team coach, reserves manager and assistant, at least 3 physios, medical team, off site coaching staff based in Liverpool for the Academy, coaches for the junior teams, kit room staff, matchday supervisor and security, community manager and her staff, video and photographer producer, matchday secretary and staff, front of house staff, catering and all the hospitality staff and their manager, commercial manager and in house admin staff, lottery manager and collectors....and so it goes on and on..... :o

I think that's about it but I would wager it's more than 25 excluding the players.

Since the move to The Globe the increase in staff over that when at The Pie is significant.

If I can dig out my last statement of accounts I seem to recall their being a figure put on the actual number of staff the club are responsible for. Whatever the final number is it requires a considerable amount of financing that at the moment due in part to the pitiful home gates is reliant on the financial goodwill of the current Board.

I agree it'll be more than 25, but it gets more complicated when trying to estimate the number of part-timers, who'll probably mostly be on minimum wage, how many volunteers skew the figures, etc. I'm not saying there's no point guessing, but at the end of the day it will be only a guess unless the club themselves clarify the situation, and I don't see them doing so as in a commercially competitive environment they could be giving away information to those they don't want to have it.

Like I said, I'd love to get a proper break down of income / expenditure.

For example, Rod is on the record as saying that the hospitality part of the business runs at a small profit so you can disregard that accounting for any of the clubs losses if you take him at his word.

We receive funding for the academy setup, does the funding we receive cover the entire cost of this or do we contribute any more to it?

The EFL solidarity payments we receive are more than the playing budget, what do we spend the rest of it on?

Plenty of questions that the fans / Trust don't know the answer to unfortunately.

Have we changed security firms? I have noticed the stewards wearing FGH uniforms rather than Lingwoods at the last few home games?

It would depend on the definition of "profit". It would be hard for it not to make a profit if you just took the direct staff and food/drink purchases as the costs. So what other costs are included? Bank charges for handling the cash and card processing? Part of premises costs such as insurance, power, rates, water? Part of administrative wages such as part of the receptionists wages? Without knowing what's included and what isn't, it's meaningless.

Presumably they have departmental management accounts but as you say the profit would depend on whether it was net after all attributable costs have been debited or a gross profit which should be a certainty.
