Just watching NWT. At the end they do a review of all the north west team’s performances over the weekend. All except one! Guess who? They are truly pathetic.

Complain to them! It seems to be a regular thing that we get missed off. OK some weeks that may be a blessing in disguise but when we have an important game like Saturday and produce the goods a few seconds coverage would be a good thing!

They showed Accy, Fleetwood, Tranmere, Bury and Oldham, no Rochdale or us.
It was ever thus!

I think they have a tight schedule and must adhere to it so this choose to show the better games or more popular teams - not jutifying it tho!

I guess they are concerned about the audience wanting to see their team so the biggest audience wins.

ITV showed our goal.

You'd think they could make time in the schedule for every Football League team. It's not like MOTD sometimes cut off before they've shown every match

I have sent the following to the `programme director', Michelle Mayman today:

"Dear Michelle,

I watched the alleged sports section of North West Tonight yesterday evening and was dismayed - not for the first time - that there was no mention of my local football team, Morecambe FC. The Shrimps' victory over Crawley (see my report here: http://d3d4football.com/morecambe-1-0-c ... ch-report/) could prove to be a critical point in the run-in to the end of the season. Morecambe are far from free of relegation issues and their win thus has a great significance for those of us in your supposed target region. So why no mention of it? Why no mention of Morecambe FC more often than not on your Manchester-centric programme? We do exist up here - even your rivals on what used to be Granada showed the key goal last night. If they can do it (and they don't have the rights, after all), why can't you?"

I'm not going to hold my breath - the BBC is a law unto itself after all - but I will share her reply...

To play devils advocate here, there are many other clubs below us in the football league structure that get bigger crowds - Salford, Wrexham and Stockport - who have much bigger fanbases and there scores are not covered, regardless of their level. If, for example, Bolton were to start again in NNN I am sure theee result against Curzon Ashton away would be given. Morecambe, regardless of their level will always be viewed by some as being a little
Non- league club unless there is a marked improvement in attendances and league positions.

Hello Dr. Fitton,

I hope you’re well. Apologies for my delayed response to your email regarding Monday’s sports desk but I have been on leave this week.

Firstly, let me assure you that no one is more frustrated than myself and Richard on the sports desk that we are not able to show the goals from all our EFL teams win, lose or draw. The reason we can’t are time constraints, we have to battle for every second we get on sport and it simply isn’t possible to show them all. We decide (and often argue) about what must go in and stay out and try very hard to balance things out as best we can. The reason Morecambe didn’t feature on Monday is because they have featured several times over the last few weeks when they have had their other vital wins. But with the team moving nine points clear of the relegation zone, we had to give priority to teams closer to promotion / relegation issues at this stage of the season.

Our friends at Granada show action from every game, our senior producers have a different take and don’t permit us to do so. May I also point out, you say that we have TV rights and Granada don’t which isn’t accurate. The BBC Has no rights to the Football League games other than very limited access that lasts for 24-48 hours under a scheme known as the Sports News Access Code.

As fans of EFL clubs and both hailing for Lancashire, neither Richard or I have any bias towards Manchester or against our lower League clubs. It would make is extremely happy to cover all our sides every week, but as I mentioned earlier, it just isn’t possible. And rest assured, after yet another Jim Bentley miracle, we are planning a Shrimps feature very soon. I hope this explains the situation even if you (or indeed I) don’t agree with the policy.

Very Best Wishes,

Howard.

Agreed. The last paragraph shows they know their subject matter and it sounds like we'll get some positive coverage soon.

All credit to them for responding with an explanation which is a lot more than what I would have expected.

i'm having problems registering my account with British Gas as a Sainsbury Energy customer where BG are taking control of all SE Accounts this coming Sunday.

Despite receiving an email from BG with my Customer Account Number they are unable to find my account to complete the change over. No explanation or even a contact number to get it sorted and certainly no email response to date from them. Pathetic....which makes the reply from BBC even more credible.

Good feature on NW Tonight this evening. Good publicity seeing everyone having a good time with a decent result. BBC May have taken on board the doc e mail. If that is the case good on you doc.

It was a good feature, helped by the bumper crowd & excellent result, but didn't you hear them say, "for the last in our series..." so it sounded to me like we were the last North West club to have a featured slot?
