Heard a whiff of a rumour re Halstead. Few clubs sniffing around like Port Vale, Wrexham. Carlisle to name few. Got mentioned to me via a person not attached to Morecambe. Hope he stays but if as number 2 I doubt it.
Only a rumour though

Doesn't surprise me one bit.

The way he's been treated is for me (and I suspect a few others) simply wrong.

Assuming that Mark does leave, no doubt he'll get a better deal elsewhere and for that reason alone I wouldn't blame him for leaving.

If Mark (or his agent) was already getting him a deal somewhere else and Jim knew that, you'd still have left Barry out and played Mark, knowing he was going at the end of the season?

The same could apply to all our contracted players...so don't agree that because an agent MAY have been working for Mark that that warrants the treatment he got after nearly 6 months as our 'keeper.

Evidently Baz had a shocker in the second 45 minutes yesterday....but no doubt he'll be playing on Monday unlike Mark who had a couple of below average games and then got the chop... :!: :!: :!:

Therein lies the problem for Mark and maybe good news for us, as I was also told he doesn't have an agent as such so he might just wait and see. Who knows really

What if the club were approached by Marks agent seeking assurances of a new deal or the number 1 jersey and they weren't given any? The lad will have a mortgage and will need security. Can't blame him for seeking new pastures if he has done so. Equally, you can't blame the club for not offering terms until League status was secured. Being dropped for a bullshit reason will have done his head in no doubt.

We will be left with an aging Barry and losing a very capable GK.

Having watched the highlights :? , they didn't show one Morecambe attack - maybe cos there wasn't any..... Mansfield all the way, those second half goals were awful to watch particularly the free shot from outside the box that trickled along the ground - howler!
Enjoy yourself.... It is later than you think

Very depressing highlights.

Not even a shot from the Shrimps and but for our number 1 Baz it could have been 5 or 6 at halftime.

Apparently Halstead realises that JB has made his decision on who is number one, and also understands that Baz can't be shifted if fit, regardless of form. I'm pleased that Baz is back between the sticks and probably for the forsee able too, but that will not help Mark and I fear he might have played his last game for us. Just hope our young back up us ready if needed

That is massive for MFC.

Do you know if Mark was talking to other clubs before being dropped?

I'd certainly like to see Mark as the long term solution, but if fully recovered from injuries, Baz could have another three seasons with us, so we can't afford to have two first team standard keepers on the books at the expense of an outfield player. Decisions, decisions...

I 100% know that when he was in the side he didn't want to go anywhere else. Since being binned, like I said before, he realises that while Baz is at the club, that he himself will be second choice regardless of form, which is the thing that has unsettled him. Until being dropped he believed his future was at MFC, but if he can't fight his way into the team, then what is the point. He has a point !.
