European football O/T

I saw that HJK Helsinki drew 1-1 with HIFK Helsinki in the Finnish Veikkausliiga yesterday. I bet the commentators dream of getting that gig.

What's your favourite European club name? Mine's Odd.........

KTV Kokkola of Finland.

Probably because one of our former players from many moons ago played for them.

I'm not surprised yours are odd, but what are they?

My favourite European club's name is 'Morecambe'. Will I still be able to say that post Brexit?

So how did that work out then?

Europe is a continent of which the UK is a physical part, regardless of whether or not we are in the EU, a distinction a lot of people, including some well-educated ones, seem either ignorant of or too willing to ignore. (No personal dig intended to anyone on SVs, BTW)

It was only a little bait on the hook, I didn't really expect a catch!   I was actually only setting up to point out that having mentioned Morecambe, the thread was no longer O/T! :D

I think Europe's one subject I've already proven I can be caught on rather too easily  . I had thought it was rather O/T myself, until of course you brought it back on topic. And I agree, favourite European team is Morecambe.

Ok ok ok I forgot the O/T convention and thanks Keith for dragging it back I/T but I've now modified subject, so let's get back on to the European football topic.

I always liked Ujpest Dozca as well.

Who is the most hated European football supporter?

The one at the back at Borussia Mönchengladbach games who shouts, “Give us a B!”.

In the 1970's the Bundesliga match fixing scandal was revealed.
Close to relegation, Arminia offered money to Hertha Berlin to lose the match.
Relegation rivals Offenbach Kickers offered Hertha money to motivate them to beat Arminia.
Apparently Arminia offered the most and so won the match- Kickers were relegated.

What has stayed with me all these years was a newspaper report suggesting that Offenbach Kickers
should be renamed Offenbach Handers.

Note: Worth a read by Googling because of the scale and ease of match fixing.
