Anyone remember Alan Favager, the only centre half in the Lancashire Combination who could stop Timmons and Borrowdale scoring? He ended up teaching on the Wirral and occasionally appeared as a “guest” in our staff football team. He was very easy to play with. If he had the ball and told you to go somewhere, you moved and the ball arrived at your feet.
