Well said MPH - fully agree.

Not sure any other manager would want the job, and even if they did - they would not do any better than Jim does with the finances and resources available.

I think the training facilities issue is a major one, as evidenced by the stronger finish to the season. Assuming we can continue to use Lancaster Uni for training, I think we will do better next season, even if we do lose one or two of our better players. Jim always does well in the transfer/loan market annd always unearths one or two gems.

In Jim we trust!!

how do you know if a manage do a bette we not try a new manage. cos people so far up jim bum.

Football's a results game and right now Jim is certainly getting the results. Without a big boost in funds though we will be in another scrap next season and Jim has proven to be the best escape artist in the lower leagues. Therefore we'd be mad to consider moving him on.

Don't recall ever having seen any official announcement about the fees we received for either player. So is this pure speculation or yet again another leak from within the club.... :?: :?: :?:

The King of Speculation accuses person of speculation shock!

Undisclosed fee, so know fee was paid - https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.dail ... 634857.amp
Agent is World in Motion who said fee was “five figures”.
Red Dragon forum (can’t find post) said, “in the region of £50,000”.

As far as Leif Davis goes, I said roughly £100k. Again Leeds said, “undisclosed fee” and based on a three year contract. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.leed ... leif-davis.

For his fee I’ve simply applied the compensation formula for younger players. If he was on a two-year contract at a Cat 1 Academy at 16 they would get £80,000 and if it was three years then £120,000. Half way is £100k. I think for an 18 year old at a Cat 3 that would be fair, especially if he’d played in the Championship. So calculated speculation.

Old article but figures are still the same. http://www.fsf.org.uk/latest-news/view/ ... nt-matters.

As far as Leif is concerned Rod did say there were add-ons to the deal.

At the risk of upsetting a few people, I think the responses on this thread show that there is a greater level of support for Jim than for getting rid of him, and I hope in that respect he does read Shrimpsvoices. I know we're not the entire fan base, but hopefully we're reasonably representative, although probably only of fans over a certain age.

Yes , he mentioned a payment to us for his Leeds debut which he did make and various incremental payments based on future appearances.

Regarding transfer fees for Oswell and Davis, my point is that neither was announced on this forum or any other MFC Forum including the OWS.

If as is suggested that the fees were circa £50K and £100K excellent but as is customary with our club neither fee was officially confirmed on any of the deals.

As for the Red Dragon forum I view any post regarding Oswell as 'speculation'... :o

Steady PA.

On a serious not though. The younger generation, who support at all the home games, and some away, seem to be very much Jim fans, plenty of favourable chants.

(Please note, that this post is not to make comment about attending games, or not. :D )

I´ve read this a few times and I don´t understand it, RR. Is this meant as a compliment, criticism or a mixture of the two i.e. a back-handed compliment?? :?

If he has rescued us time and time again, which is true, then I believe it is a genuine compliment. Therefore, why would he be grateful for us (I'm trying to follow your logic here...)? But then you suggest that other team´s fans wouldn´t support a manager that rescue them? That would then suggest that it isn´t a compliment after all. Is the rescue part sarcastic then? I'm thoroughly confused.

It is a compliment to our fans who in the majority support JB. There will always be at any club a small section who oppose the manager but it is a credit to the vast majority despite season after season of battles against relegation who support for our manager remains very strong.

Stop trying to be clever and trying to find suggestions other than praise of our fans when nothing sinister was intended.....

Yes, we have the best fans going. Small in number but passionate as they come.

I can't imagine any other group of fans who would almost to a man continue to support a manager with such a record.

What does this mean then? I´m not twisting any words, but does that mean - you can´t imagine any other footballs fans supporting Jim with the record he has? What else could you mean?

Just a further example of the superb loyalty afforded to Jim which I doubt would be replicated at a number of other clubs. In no way is meant to be taken as being negative....quite the opposite.

I believe the vast majority of fans have the greatest respect for Jim, his loyalty to the the club and all round nice guy are just two of the reasons, but if we get away from posters on Shrimpsvoices , who are only a tiny view point, I honestly believe the should he stay or should he go camps would be evenly split. I would like Jim to stay but only if he continues with the positive tactics we have seen in the last ten games or so, eg, playing with two up front has made all the difference. Let's not forget the early part of the season when Oliver was playing up front by himself, a tactic which was not working, but Jim stuck to the tactic, the football was awful to watch and we looked like we were going down. I also remember each season with Jim in charge we go through a period where the football is negative,we lose game after game and his tactics and substitutions are baffling and also let's not forget the negative radio interviews after each poor performance. Just to clarify, despite the last couple of sentences, I have a lot of respect for Jim, we all know he has no money to play with, but he does have a good record of bringing players in, just look at Bennett and Collins, two players who have saved our season. To clarify, I would like Jim to stay, but next season he must be more positive both on and off the pitch. Let's go out to win every game, no more little old Morecambe, if Accrington did it why can't we.
