The following out of contract players will be offered new deals: Aaron Wildig, Andy Fleming, Luke Conlan, Mark Halstead, Kevin Ellison, Jordan Cranston, Zak Mills, Barry Roche, A-Jay Leitch-Smith and Aaron Collins.

The following players remain in contract: Sam Lavelle, Ritchie Sutton, Steven Old, Andrew Tutte, Rhys Oates.

One year options will be activated on: Carlos Mendes-Gomes, Lamine Jagne, Kyle Hawley and Tyler Brownsword.

The following players have been allowed to leave: Adam Campbell, Vadaine Oliver, Dawid Szczepaniak, James Sinclair and Ben Hedley.

The following loan players have returned to their parent clubs: Richie Bennett, Liam Mandeville, Sam Dalby Paul McKay and Piero Mingoia.

Talks are ongoing with Alex Kenyon.

Article includes some more information (like why we're letting Oliver go.) Hoping we can keep the core together, the team ended the season really well.

So as things stand, we have 10 players under contract, a mixed bag of players offered new deals, and the loaned players all returned to sender!!

I think all contracts expire at the end of June. Therefore he is contracted to (and paid by) Carlisle till then. At that point he can sign for another club. We may, or may not have offered him a deal but if accepted it won't become active till then.

The MFC announcement was probably prepared before the Carlisle announcement that he was being released.

He would have to return to Carlisle to find out if he has been released. They pay his salary until 30th June.

If players don't sign or find a club until after 1st August then the employer (Carlisle in this case) have to pay him his July salary which is a payment in lieu of notice just like in civvy street. This is why lots of clubs don't announce signings until August so they save a month's salary. We did this when we signed Podge from Accrington.

Some Carlisle fans have said we have offered Richie Bennett a 2 year contract. I would be happy if that is so.

Discussion on the Barrow forum about Bennett returning to Holker Street too, but many don't seem keen.

Wouldn't surprise me if Carlisle had a word with both Bennett and ourselves sometime over the last few months that they would be releasing him.

With V leaving don't be surprised if Bennett appears in a red shirt next season.

I wouldn’t be too surprised if we see McKay next season - Jim’s been impressed by his attitude and skillset apparently but Cardiff are set to let him go  :!:

Interesting.... :?

JB only gave him a first team game a week or so ago despite being with us since the New Year.

He didn't stand out for me being one of those players who you tend not to notice BUT if JB is keen on him....OK... :)

Seems odd that we seem to have known Oliver would be leaving (no deal offered because the player wants to move back down south), yet he's been playing ahead of Bennett for the last few weeks. Unless Jim wanted to get the lad back fit and putting himself in the shop window - "we owe it to x to get him back fit" is a line I've heard before, which is honourable of the club and Jim - although you'd think it would've been a good opportunity to trial some of the lads who do have a future here in competitive games. Who knows, perhaps Jimbo has seen enough from Richie to make a decision one way or another or there's been injuries that we're not aware of. On the face of it though, a little strange IMO.

Could be that Bennett knew Carlisle would be releasing him and that he said he'll sign with us. Jim has then taken the decision not to play him to avoid any potential injuries that could scupper the deal or him attracting interest from other clubs if he continued to put in good performances?

Vadaine is from Sheffield - I love a Lancastrian who considers that to be 'down south.' Although as someone who gets a bit jittery once south of Stockport, I'm inclined to agree with you :D

All speculation of course, but there may have been other implications if we played Bennett as well, for example if he made X appearances or played X minutes we owed Carlisle a fee.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's how it stays for the remainder of May.

The month or the Prime Ministership?

My Dad had an annoying thing he would say every year about not casting your clouts until May is out. Which is true because it looks as if that won't be until Halloween night now.
He did go on to say that it meant May blossom and not the month.

However, back to the topic, there's probably not much more transfer news that can be confirmed until at least early June. Plenty of REMAIN / LEAVE fun to be had though.

A forward line of Bennett, Collins and Miller would provide goals, excitement and entertainment.

Miller picking up the knock ons from Bennett and Collins on the wing coming inside...phew... :D :D :D

If only.... :?: :?: :?:

Just hope that he's no longer annoyed at the way he was treated by a former Director regarding wages.

I doubt Miller would come back. He couldn't wait to get out of here, citing the long commute as being a problem... even though he then spent time at Carlisle for a while afterwards!

And like Devitt, got a lot of stick from our "fans" when he's been back at the globe, so I don't think we'll be high on his list for his next club.

Really? A completely different story to the one I heard! I was told that he was going to sign until a last minute ‘intervention’ by someone at the club led to the deal falling through. As long as he’s still on good terms with Jim and the person responsible for the collapsed deal is no longer involved, then it could be a welcome return for him and us.

Obviously, what I heard may have been rubbish!
