He signed a contract with us and if we offer improved terms which I think is certain then we will receive something (not much) if he signs elsewhere.

Indeed , even Scotland like we found with young McGowan. Is Newport regarded as foreign ? I seem to remember we needed international clearance when we signed Martyn Giles from a Welsh club.

As I remember Martyn Giles’s first game couple of games after signing was as A Triallist (or another name) because we’d forgotten that he needed international clearance. Cleverly covered our tracks.

As you say though, it wasn’t worth the effort.
