A young player, who has bags of ability, and showed a bit of Mande “magic,” in some of the games he played. That said, he sometimes didn’t show that battling determination, that a club like ours needs. Would have liked to see him here for another year, and see if JB could “unlock” him to his true potential(?)
Good luck to the lad at Chesterfield.

We wouldn't have got near to them with wages but is the Conference the right stage for him ?

That's a blow. Really disappointed at that news. I suppose it's a better money offer and a lot closer to home - isn't he from Lincoln?

Not surprised at this as Mandy was poorly treated and unable to get in the side towards the end of the season for some reason! Good look to him in the future, too attack minded for JB,he prefers players who pass sideways and backwards!

So he has moved from League 1 to League 2 and now on down another league. To me that tells it's own story, but unfortunately it's one that Liam was unable to read.

A lad with plenty of skills and talent but somehow unable or unwilling to apply himself week in week out and produce his best form on a regular basis.

I'm really not that upset at his moving on, but wish him well, and I really hope that he can come to terms with whatever is going on in his head, so that he can start to move up again instead of sliding down.

Having said all that, what's the betting that we draw Chesterfield in the 1st round of the FA Cup and he scores their winner!!!

I think the lad has bags of potential but really needs to focus. The best thing he could do is realise that to be the best athlete that he can be, he needs to be tee-total.

I didn't post this at the time, but when Sam Lavelle received a bottle of champaign for his MotM award, Steve Midds asked something along the lines of; "what will you do with that?" Sam replied "I'll probably give it to Liam". To me, that's the kind of throw-away 'joke' that speaks volumes.

Loads of talent but I am not too upset. I hope he does well at Chesterfield but he may be running out of options.

Happy for him, from Doncaster, so not as far to travel, quite possibly better money than we could afford.
As for too attack minded, hilarious!
I suppose AJ, Oates, Mingoia, Collins and Bennett shouldn’t resign for the same reason??

Good luck to Liam. He had good games and poor games. Often weak in the tackle, but could produce incredible dribbling skill. That wasn't a drink pun. Yes, he'll be back to bite us on the bum.

If the lad has problems ,and that's a big if, adressing them is more important than chasing a bag of wind about , good luck Liam.

From the Chesterfield forum. Some interesting comments about our club  as well as some dodgy spellings...

To add:

His career will go one of two ways. Kicks the booze, knuckles down and decides he can go for it - their best player and goes on to bigger things up the leagues. OR Continues as he is an ends up playing for Skegness Town.

A waste of a brilliant talent? Marvin Ali anyone?

Marvin Ali is a superb comparison.

Was only thinking about Marv the other day and recalling him chain smoking fags in the clubhouse away at Frickley Athletic after a dismal defeat.

He went on trial to Hearts, came back, and his form went to rat shit and promptly left Morecambe.

Always wondered what happened after that.....

Jim offered him a 2 year deal so, presumably, it didn't match Chesterfield's offer. It is what it is. ;)

'teetotal' not "tee-total". As a pedant myself I would probably have made the same line in answer to someone else... if only I'd known it wasn't hyphenated!

And as mother hen administrator I think it's only right that you explain and cover for other poster's sometimes convoluted and obscure attempts at humour.

I'm sure you've looked after me from time to time. :)

If there was no convoluted humour on here, there'd be no humour at all! 8-)
