Leighton James was sacked and Jim Harvey replaced him as manager.

The rest, as they say, is history.

How do I know it was 25 years today? My son was born on the same day.

Sue, I think her name was ?

Leighton ended up being manager of Netherfield FC, Accrington Stanley and then a village team in South Wales.

He then became crowned Lollipop Man of the Year. Before being banned for drink driving....

From the nearly men of the NPL to top six of the Conference, going full time and quadrupling the crowds.

Well said. I started following Morecambe in 1995 when Jim was in charge and in that time we´ve had just 3 managers - an average tenure of 8 years per manager. Wonder how many managers your other lads have had in that time, Dave?

Just for curiosity I checked. I make it 17 according to Wikipedia (only counting Mourinho & Ray Wilkins once too!).

Crazy to think that Jim Harvey is the only manager we've sacked in that time.

And he was not sacked in the normal sense of the word.

His contract expired and it wasn't renewed.

Happy memories of Jim Harvey bringing the ball out from the back, seemingly walking past players like they weren't there.

You have to say we have done quite well for managers since James was sacked.

Harvey took us to national football, established us in the Conference and made us dream of the FL.

Sammy took us up to the promised land and established us in the FL.

Jimbo kept us up for years and was MFC through and through.

Adams took us out of the 'little Morecambe' mindset and into the dreamland of L1.

Ged and Robinson gave us some good moments.

We rarely make a bad appointment and give whoever's in charge will get time to get things right.

Ironically, in these five years since, we've had another three managers!

How many of the managers have we received compo for? Is it 5 in a row?? I think we've sold more managers than players in recent times!

I wonder if out of all the clubs that are over 100 years old that we've had the least amount of managers?

We had 3 managers in a week in the 80s , it was the week that started with a 0-9 home defeat to Bangor.

The 2nd of the 3 managers was in the Guinness Book of Records at the time as the shortest managerial reign ever. Jim Thompson (ex Burnley) took the job , went home to discuss it with his wife and then gave backword that he didn't want to be manager !
