with Fleming now retired, Tutte already injured and Wildig injury prone, we desperately need a midfield general. if i could gift Jim one of our ex players now for me it would be Andy Grimshaw

Bring Drummie out of retirement!
“Britain faces a simple and inescapable choice - stability and strong Government with me, or chaos with Ed Miliband: ".

David Cameron. May 4th 2015.
So how did that work out then?

Billy Clarke attacking midfielder even looks a bit like Flemmo ,former Bradford player without a club age 31.

With Wildig, Kenyon, Cranston and Tutte (injuries considered), surely it's time to bring on Mendes Gomes or Jagne in the other CM role, otherwise what's the point in having them?

Yeah, watching Carlos at Salford he has the talent and has certainly filled out a bit, exciting to watch if we can just get him to release the ball at the right time

With all the injuries at the moment the team to start the season will probably be all we have left! They are usually our better sides.

Is Andrew Tutte's injury the same one that caused him to miss a lot of last season? It seems like his body is not able to withstand the rigours of full time football. A club like ours cannot afford the luxury of a player being absent for big chunks of the season!

I was told AJ, Tutte and Buxton are all mild issues and will be ready in a couple of weeks. Match fit might be another thing

Is it not the other way round? A club like ours cannot afford the luxury of a squad full of injury-free players that will be available for a full season.

Tutte, Wildig, AJ, Baz... They're all good quality L2 players, but they each have issues with injuries. But what else can we do?

With no income from any friendlies, paying money for a loanee, going cap in hand for gym equipment, new roof for the pie eaters, we start the season looking pretty shoddy imo! My biggest worry is we start the season more or less with the same side that started last season......and didn't that go well? Will season tickets be available to collect this Saturday? If not there is going to be an awful scrum coming before the first league game. 2 steps forward 3 steps back.

Midfield:
Tutte (1)
Jagne (1)
Mendes Gomes (1)
Wildig (1)
Kenyon (1)
Howard (1/2)
O’Sullivan (2)
Lynch (0)

this list looks fragile at best, here's hoping for some creativity soon

I disagree. If you're going to include right wingers then don't leave out the left!

Left:
Ellison
Cranston
Oates
Mendes Gomes

Right:
O'Sullivan
Howard
Oates
Mendes Gomes

Centre:
Wildig
Tutte
Kenyon
Cranston
Jagne
Mendes Gomes
Lynch

If you had something like the following (?):
------------STOCKTON-MILLER--------------
OATES-CRANSTON-WILDIG-O'SULLIVAN
then that could leave a rather midfield-heavy bench (Tutte, Ellison, Kenyon, Jagne, Mendes Gomes, Lynch & Howard to choose from).

I would then see that unless they set the world on fire in training, the youngsters will find it more likely to be out on loan that getting game time here.

On the other thread, I was more talking about how we are missing a player like Flemmo who is just a solid centre midfielder. Wildig and Tutte are injury prone, however Wildig looked really good last season in his deeper role. I just don’t think Kenyon is good enough if we want to finish above 20th  and despite being good going forward, Cranston’s positioning and defending aren’t superb. CMG has been deployed as a striker in preseason so far and he didn’t look great in a far deeper midfield role. Then Jagne and Lynch are complete unknown quantities for us suppprters.

We are stocked up well in midfield options but, in my mind at least, we don’t have the Flemmo, Goodall, Rose type midfielder.

Hopefully, Jim’ll prove me wrong and sign someone!!

Lamin could be the surprise, he was making faster progress than Carl’s last time our, before he got injured.

You Guys above are forgetting that Tom Brewitt can play in midfield!

he'd be my choice to Anchor the midfield allowing the likes of Sullivan freedom to get forward.
