He only has a year left on his Crewe contract so it is as good as a permanent signing.

The £15000 mentioned elsewhere is probably for the loan fee which is ok providing that we get the goal return similar to last time.

15k to borrow a player? We have more likely taken over his wages for the year and Crewe are happy to free up his wages. I bet Shaun got a decent contract at Carlisle on the back of the form he showed in his year at Morecambe.

On another note, how didn't we win the league with Miller, Devitt and Barky?

Having a shocking defence

We conceded 91 goals, so that's a rate of just slightly under two per game. Awful record and a real shame. We scored 69 which is enough to put most teams in with a playoff shout, as long as the defence isn't a shambles.

At times we would have had a front four of:
Barkhuizen Devitt Mullin/Ellison
Miller

Bloody brilliant front line, arguably the best we've ever had in League Two.

Also, how has it been interpreted that we paid a £15k loan fee!? That's a bit of a ludicrous conclusion to draw - I imagine it will be wage contributions etc. I highly doubt we would ever pay a loan fee.

I'd be in agreement with that. Crewe would have had to pay his contract up to release him, or keep paying him but not use him. I wouldn't mind making a guess that they are actually still making payments for him, the difference between what we can afford and what they can.

15k to loan a player for a season and add that to a wage of 30-40k a year is crazy talk. I do love it when a poster is proved wrong...again

Where is the proof that I am wrong in stating that we PROBABLY handed over £15K for the loan of Sean?

Payments for loan players are common place.

But as usual I bow to the superior knowledge of BerlinWaller who obviously knows everything that goes on within the dealings at our club......

To be fair to you, £15 is more realistic. The club hasn't paid a transfer fee since Baker and Duffy so why would they stump up 15k on a 1 season loan? It isn't superior knowledge mate, it is you being wrong again. You enjoy people being corrected don't you?

As already stated where is the proof that I am wrong just as there is no proof that I'm right other than it is strange that the club have to find £15K all of a sudden.

But no need for a fall out just be glad as I am that we've brought in a proven striker.

Nothing heard about how the striker brought in from PNE is going on.

There is no proof either way but if you look at it realistically, you are still wrong. Unless of course you have dipped in to your vault and stumped up the 15k on your own?

The most realistic use of the £15K I've seen is to support Andy Fleming until money comes through from the PFA (or whoever).

Quite a lot of speculation and misinformation in this thread. Those that attended the Shrimps Trust AGM know the score.

As Rod explained, Flemo is under contract with and still being paid by Morecambe FC (although he can't play due to forced medical retirement). Until his contract situation has been resolved by the PFA/EFL, additional finances are required for replacement(s) as there is no room in the agreed playing budget.

There is no definitive timescale over how long this will take (3 months was mentioned, but possibly longer), but obviously replacements are needed now.

Rod was seeking help to raise the additional finance required to bring in two "significant" signings (one of whom is obviously Shaun Miller and is now in the building as a loanee), thought to be in the region of £15k - of which he had raised around £7k.

Speaking from my own personal perspective, I've seen some criticism of Rod and the club for asking for funding towards what appear to be exceptional circumstances - ultimately aiming to benefit the playing squad, and also an earlier appeal for training equipment. I think it is refreshing that the club is being transparent about all of this - and asking for help when it is required. What's the alternative? Don't bring in players at all, or do so by spending money that the club doesn't have? I'm sure all supporters want the club to be successful and managed in a responsible way that doesn't jeopardise the future of the club. If we are truly "stronger together" then it would be great to see people get behind Rods plea.

Welcome back Shaun. Good to have you on board. I sincerely hope that you are able to regain your form again like the last time and hopefully we can sort you out a contract for next year and beyond!

That was sort of the line I was aiming for, but you explain it so much better, particularly since you were there and have the facts when I wasn't. I have to agree with pretty much everything you've said there.
