Team selection

Team selection

Postby redrobo » Fri Aug 02, 2019 10:39 am

So the long awaited new season kicks off tomorrow and like every fan I want a home performance and result that argues well for the season ahead.

On the OWS JB states what a difficult selection problem he has ahead of him with only AJ not fit for selection.

It's not in my nature to provide JB with any guidance :o ;) but for me the one player not to start would be Kevin who for me will have more use as an impact sub if needed this coming season. Kevin is no doubt one of the fittest in the club but going forward he will have greater influence on a game from around the 60th minute. but that's only my opinion and others will no doubt see it differently as I'm sure will the big man himself.

Goalkeeping wise, it's Mark to start with Lewis, Shaun and Cole all to start from the off as well as new recruits Brewitt and O'Sullivan who I expect to be have significant influence on the team this season.

With the weather forecast looking good and the ground in excellent condition, let's hope for a successful start and a performance to match.

Good luck guys....COYS.... :D :D :D

Agreed about Kevin. He ain't got the pace in his legs anymore but as a late sub he may stand more chance against tiring defenders.

One thing for the Grimsby game is we need to carefully watch the big lad Hanson at set pieces. Pre-season Grimsby did a neat short corner routine, then it was looped into Hanson at the far post to win the header. Should have scored twice against Peterborough with it, one hit the bar and the other a wonder save kept it out.Need to be alert to that one. I'm sure Jim is aware by now.

It's not in my nature to provide rr with any guidance :o ;) but the term I think you're looking for is augurs well - An augur was a Roman official with the job of predicting the future and advising on public policy. Thus the Roman augurs made a prediction of a good (or bad) outcome as the consequence of some omen like flights of birds or cattle bellowing or in this case the way the team clicks and makes goal chances.

Anyway, Augustine education lesson over*, I agree apart from Brewitt. I think Tutte will start and I'm guessing that Cranston will complete midfield

*I may test you on this in a few weeks.....

Jim should make his mind up, gone from bare bones to a selection headache, which is better?

Hope the best 11 is sorted soon so we can have a settled side rather than chopping and changing
Enjoy yourself.... It is later than you think

Surprised that Bare bum hasn't corrected some of your spelling.

Should be 'too high/ too low' NOT 'to high / to low'...... ;)

Good. I'd be worried if he wasn´t. It´s healthy to have competition.

Can see Jim going his favoured 4-2-3-1 with Stockton as the target man and 3 attackers Lewis, Sullivan, Oats/Ellison

So many strikers hmm which 1 to pick? That's his dilemma! Hope Kev is on the bench and Kenyon is in the stands

First game of the season, sun shining, over 1000 away fans, new training facilities, new signings and hopefully attacking football from Morecambe!
