The problem appears to be on the video. The sound is perfectly clear on the audio only version, but it doesn´t let you watch both at the same time.

Grimsby are there for the taking today. Need to get Miller on the ball in more dangerous areas. Get Stockton on to give him some physical support up-top.

Well so far it sounds like a much better performance than the first game last season. Positives already.

Oh dear. Where to start?

Did we just forget what made us effective for the back end of last season at home? We were playing attacking line-ups from the off and we got wins under our belt. The atmosphere was positive.

Yes, we´ve lost a few players in attacking area but they´ve been replaced with genuine scorers (both Stockton and Miller have proven for us that they can hit the net).

Grimsby were predictable and there for the taking. It´s no secret their main tactic was to get crosses into Hanson (read their forum). Our defence, on the whole, had them covered but we failed to cause them any problems. How many touches did Miller have on the ball in dangerous areas? He was issolated on his own and we were crying our for Stockton to do some bully work. After a fairly bright start in the first 15 minutes we completely stopped producing anything yet we didn´t make a change until after they scored on 71 minutes. Why?

As soon as Stockton came on we created our first (and only?) proper chance of the game. We set up to just nick the game, rather than take the game to them and now we sit here with nothing with no entertainment to to talk of either. I love you Jim but personally I think you got the selection wrong today and you didn´t fix it when it was obvious it wasn´t working.

On a positive, I do like what I see from the squad and we have immediate options to change it. I also thought Conlan played with a lot of confidence today and up until the first goal I thought we´d defended well as a back 5 (including Roche).

Next game line-up:

________________Roche________________

Buxton____Lavelle______Old________Conlan

____Tutte (#or Cranston)___ Wildig________

Sullivan________________________Alessandra

__________Miller___Stockton______________

# depending on Tutte´s fitness.

Grimsby weren't that good, the scoreline will flatter them.

We were the better side for 70mins until we conceded, but you can clearly see scoring goals is going to be a problem.

Could do with another Richie Bennett!

Early days BUT for all the positive talk preseason from Jim we still set up as if the second half of last season never happened. We were at home against a moderate team :(

I said after the last time we tried that corner kick routine we should never use it again.

New season same s#^t
Referee was clueless couldn't see a forearm smash into a players head from 5 foot away, but managed to see the ball deflect off someone's toe from 30 metres away
What was the thing with the first goal, seems everyone stopped for offside ??
Why was kenyon playing before tutte, I know he's injury prone but a one legged tutte is far better than a 2 legged kenyon :D

That is not entirely true. Coles shot just after he came on that was cleared near to the line is a shot on target in my opinion. BBC don't seem to count them on target unless they hit the keeper.

I thought Kenyon was ok first half but once he got booked his head went and it was right to sub him. We played some neat stuff without creating any chances. Defence looked good apart from the first goal. The only real disappointment was Allessandra who contributed very little

Lewis played in the number 10 role but was starved of any space and the ball. No good giving it to feet with his back to goal with a defender up his backside. We were too intricate against a big strong side. Cole should have started and we should have been more direct. I had hoped we had seen the last of the stick 6 up top and panic tactic but i guess not.

I'd have substituted him before half time, in fact I wouldn't have started with him at all. He was pretty poor long before his booking. He ended last season poor, so surprised he made the team at all given Jim had virtually a full squad to choose from.

A very disappointing game and first home match. Good crowd. Great pitch. Perfect weather, if a tad warm. But a surprising starting selection with our main goal threat Stockton on the bench, and not even brought on at half-time :? Kenyon ahead of Cranston, and left on the bench :? I hoped to see Mark Halstead ahead of Baz, and sure wish we had after the shambles at the end. And like last season, I don't think the goalie is best placed to be Captain :? What were Jim's tactics? When it wasn't working by half-time, with so few chances created, changes made too late. Ref was a joke, but Grimsby were canny enough to con him so often. Despairing to watch, a missed opportunity to get points in the bag in front of a big crowd. On positives, thought the back four played well, especially Buxton and Conlon. O'Sullivan showed moments of class and strength, and link up play between Miller and Stockton was immediate to see. I hope Jim and Ken sort-out better tactics and team selection before too long. Can't see us getting anything from the next 2 games v Mansfield

Not a boring game but neither side played much football.

We set up to ‘play pretty’ which didn’t work against a very organised, narrow Grimsby team who allowed us no space on the ball. It needed Stockton and Ellison at half time and a more direct style.

Baz made a couple of errors, I’d put Mark in goal next game.

We still look a bit short of presence in midfield. Alex looks fitter but his passing is still poor and I’m not sure he’s up to being part of our first 11. Tutte in for Alex please.

A very poor start to the season. Seems we haven't learnt anything from the first half of last season. Same tactics different players. Kenyon on the pitch. Lack of width, one lone striker, set pieces pathetic! Players may come and go but the system (we have one) doesn't change. A very average Grimsby beat us playing steady football. Had we been playing a top side it could well have been another 6 like last season! Buckle up people it's going to be a long old slog to the end of the season.
Don't worry be happy!

Followed the game on BBC couldn't attend due to work commitments.

A good home support hopefully wont be put off by result.

Home attendances are quite often over-inflated on opening day, however, I expect they it will drop to around 1200-1400 for next home game against Cheltenham.

The attendance was 1,000 more than saw us play Grimsby in April. As usual when we have some extra fans we play like a pub team !
