Farewell Bury FC.

The EFL have just suspended their opening league game on Saturday. In their summing up (following todays meeting) they insinuate non-cooperation from Bury FC, which I assume is referring to their latest owner.This could well be the end for this famous old club.

We should count our blessings that we still have our club. A couple of years ago we could well have followed a similar path to Bury with all the shenanigans that were taking place.

Meanwhile Bolton are allowed to play on.

Sad day for football and in particular, Bury fans, who will have been passengers in all this, unable to influence matters to any great extent. They would happily swap places with Notts County, relegated last season and survived rather than promoted to nothing.

To be fair, it’s a tragic situation, the fit and proper test for owners, is, as we know, absolutely useless and not worth the paper it’s written on.
However, Last season in the home game, about 70 Bury fans were very unruly, refusing to co-operate with stewards in the away end and were abusing our players when were trying to take a corner in the final minutes, refusing to give the ball back and just being dicks.
I know that’s a small number, but I remember thinking at the time, they had no class, and hoped we wouldn’t react like that. These weren’t kids, grown men with children with them some of them.
For those morons, I hope they think back and feel a bit embarrassed about that day.
For the rest, the real Bury fans, we all feel for them, it must be heartbreaking.
They have no control, and have to watch as the Posh facilities where they train (ex Man City) goes to ruin after no investment and yet they spend a pile on wages and get promoted!
Only for this to happen!

We aren’t perfect, the tit who threw a smoke bomb at Macc springs to mind, but thankfully we have avoided a dodgy owner (Just) and are now rebuilding off and on the field.
Good luck to Bury, a salutary lesson in ego and ambition over business sense.

Bury have been given till the 23rd August to comply with all EFL demands or they will be expelled from the football league

Yet again the fans are the one`s who will suffer

That would leave League Two with 23 teams? Assuming 2 promoted from the National League.

Either 3 have to be promoted from the National League, or one relegated from League Two.

That's a good point!

I read somewhere that an extra team would be promoted to l1 from l2 at the end of this season,not sure what would happen in l2 though!

I think the EFL would resist allowing 3 to be promoted from the National League, otherwise it might lead to more calls for that to be ecome the norm. It would also mean asking the National League to modify their promotion structure midway through a season. The easiest way for the EFL to sort it is one less relegated.

Maybe that's just wishful thinking though

Possibly a resurrected AFC Bury in National League North? It would depend upon how they were viewed, I think part of the agreement with the Football League for promotion to/from was that they had to accept any club expelled from the Football League. However, a 'new' club starts in the same way as AFC Wimbledon had to.

Yes I think the EFL are pushing the boundaries to give them as much time as possible, but there comes a time where you can't stack games up anymore and they have to expel them.That point must be imminent!

They have undoubtedly been royally F****D over by recent 'owners' and i guess we too were within a hairs breadth of being in the same boat back in 2017.

Good Luck to them but it's probably too late for them now.

Either Dawson or Dale are lieing - either way the situation is getting worse and personally I can`t see giving Bury another week will make any difference but I hope I am wrong

If Bury do survive the suspended games will have to be fitted in and played.
