Still a point away from home against a promotion favorite who have spent a small fortune to get a point against us :D

Difficult one. I feel a bit disappointed but we hit the woodwork twice and could have had two penalties. That away from home against one of the favourites for promotion? We'd have taken that before the match. Towards the end, we were hanging on but first half, they were lucky to go in 1-2 especially after a large slice of luck in getting their first goal.

They will be more disappointed than us Keith - They have been flying players over to Portugal to sign them collecting them from the airport in a rolls royce and giving them big wages / contracts

Look what happened to Bury - Mansfield could be the next if not careful

Just watched Buxton hitting the crossbar again! Two inches lower and that would have been goal of the season!

A good point, that. Pity we couldn't hang on, but cause for positivity.

Sacking their manager last season for not winning the play-offs, they aren't taking prisoners! Not sure where their cash is coming from but yes, you are right. Tuesday will be interesting.

i really hope we don't take Tuesday serious!

Like the point Freeze was making before about taking 3 points, I'd hate the thought of one of our Key players like Lavelle, Sullivan, Stockton etc getting Injuries, FL and then FA CUP are more important, we're in a relegation battle like every season until we reach saftey.

What an excellent game of football. I don´t feel too disappointed, despite being 2 goals up.

I was critical of Jim´s selection last week. However, his three changes were spot on and we were rewarded by a brilliant opening 30 minutes. We well deserved our lead and all the front players were linking up well and fluid in their position (Lewis, O Sullivan and Kev) and it could have been more. For me, Stockton has to start every week. He gives opposition defenders more things to think about which pins them back and gives us more of a focal point. That didn´t mean we always went long today, but with Cole in the pitch we have that option. On the contrary, when we go off our attack looks somewhat numbed. I would like to see Stockton and Miller on the pitch together.

Buxton was absolutely fantastic today. Don´t be deceived by his build. He defended well, was up and down the pitch, arguably could have had a penalty and his ability to pick a diagonal ball looks well above the technical level for his league. If only he had put away his easy chance at 2-0 from 60 yards that hit the bar, we would have probably gone on to win it.

To extend that, the back 4 look really comfortable with their duties. Old, Conlan and Lavelle were all steady. I would argue with ´mercenary Mills´for Buxton we look better organised defensively.

The area that perhaps still needs some work is in the middle of the park. We started bright enough there with Tutte and Wildig working well, but as Tutte tired we didn´t have as much bite in there and stopped winning the 1st and 2nd balls. This lead to Mansfield controlling the middle of the park. I would use Tutte as our primary option or if he is not fit enough I´d use Cranston. Hopefully O´Sullivan´s hamstring is not serious as he was a really threat when he was on the ball.

I really didn´t expect anything from the game today and still would expect Mansfield with the quality they possess to go up so I´m delighted with a point.

Team for Tuesday

Looked like his hamstring. Didn´t look like he pulled it as he was able to keep walking and tried to continue, but was unable too. I think he´ll be out next game however fingers crossed not too long.

I disagree, I'd love to see us really going for this (and the FA Cup). A good run makes such a difference both to the clubs finances and the interest generally. Think back to beating Wolves and then being robbed against Newcastle. A run like that raises the club's profile and gets the casual fan behind the club, which carries over to the league matches too. Mansfield may be more likely to not want to get dragged in to a scrap with us on Tuesday.

Shame they couldn't hold out for the win but a draw is a tremendous result, early days but I think Morecambe will be mid table this season and after todays showing my lot are heading for extinction.

This little snippet was taken a Mansfield fan on there forum stagsnet

I also don't think fans are giving enough credit to Morcambe for the standard of their play. They were far better than I expected and played some good football in patches. They played the ball on the ground and didn't lump it aimlessly - that was us.

Great game today, and a massive point. A point that we were every ounce worthy of. The Mansfield fans were absolutely stunned into silence early doors, and for me they got away with one. Buxton...great signing.

Agree with the positivity of everyone else here, it's a great point and we'd have snapped your hand off for it before the game. Players looked decent, and we could have scored more.

Far better than in situations last season where heads went down and we ended up losing a point in the last minute, important to pick up every single point.

I agree! When I first saw him I thought he'd be too big to play much, but his range of passing is excellent and if his 50 yard shot had been two inches lower, we'd have seen the goal of the season already! Really p***ed off that they didn't show it on the highlights programme last night as even though it wasn't a goal, it was pretty incredible and very unusual. He can tackle too!

Other comments on the Mansfield forum included pointing out that we could have easily been 0-4 before they got back in to it.

Just need to go one step further on Tuesday night. Just hope it doesn't go to extra time.

Looks as though we played very well and deserved at least a point .

A couple of things.

Yet another shot from outside our box leads up to their first goal and Kenyon reacts badly to a challenge on a colleague just as he did last week. He's got to learn to be a bit more responsible otherwise he will be shown a red before too long.

As others have said our new full back looks great even better than Mills which is saying something.

The news about Devit being made available for a loan deal is surprising. Unfortunately I doubt we will be able to afford him but would be a welcome addition to our squad, not sure who he would replace but would love to have him back.

Well done fellas.... :D :D :D
