Just got a phone call to let me know that life long follower of our club John Trainor has died suddenly.

I'm sure all will be saddened by the news and our thoughts will be with his family at this terrible news.

RIP John

Sad news. He passed me last week on his way to the ground shouting "come on Morecambe" as he went. He must have the record for the oldest Mascot ever! RIP John, thoughts with his family and friends.

Very sad news to lose a life long fan like him. I also saw him driving behind the home end last Saturday, still shouting out of his car window. Appeared full of beans and excited about the start of a new season.

RIP.

That’s shocking news.

John was such a lovely bloke. As I’d walk around Lancaster a little honk of the horn and I’d turn round and a smiling face out of the window, “Hiya Posh!”. Must have happened 100 times over the last decade. If he was beaten jobs he’d pull over for a chat about football. That great big smile will be hugely missed.

Worth also mentioning that his taxi service specialised in looking after the elderly and the disabled who loved him for the fantastic service he gave. There’ll be a lot of people across Lancaster who’ll be grieving today.

If anyone could pass on funeral details, it would be much appreciated.

John Traynor was the epitome of a football fan. He was ever present, vocal and passionate about his beloved club.
John used to sit three seats down from me at Christie before we had the plastic PA box and we would chat every week.
He would seek me out to shake hands before every match at The Globe and would be the only one who would cheer every name loudly when I read the teams out at 2.40pm. I will miss him at every home match after knowing and respecting him for over 28 years. We have lost a good one and he will leave a hole in the PMG.
A very sad loss. My thoughts to his daughter Lynne and his family. I too would appreciate any funeral details.

Great character and a former Morecambe player as a teenager I believe. RIP John, a smashing guyand Ill miss you

Sad news indeed, the taxi ranks of Lancaster & Morecambe will be a poorer place.
As has been said, always gave a wave & a smile, whether I was in my taxi or just walking along, a true gent.

Used to sit near him at Christie Park. And then after the move to The Globe, my son and I sat in the same row as John in PMG C2, just a seat along from him. A loyal, passionate and lifelong Shrimps fan. A real character, and a nice man.

We will certainly miss his shouts at the match, although the Ref and Linesmen will have an easier life now!

RIP John - you will be missed!

A fitting send off for long standing Shrimps supporter, John Traynor, today. A lovely service with many friends in football shirts at the Crematorium, an insight into John's life and his passion for his family, football and serving the local community as the longest serving taxi driver locally. Then back to the Globe Arena where many stories were recalled over many years. RIP John.
