Mansfield Predictions, the Rematch!

Mansfield Predictions, the Rematch!

Postby Keith » Sun Aug 11, 2019 11:11 am

League Cup. Do we take it seriously enough or is it an unwelcome distraction? Do we see major changes to the line up as fringe players come in? Do we have strength in depth that this wouldn't be a bad thing? More to the point, how do Mansfield approach the game? If they'd played two League Two games and won them both, then psychologically, they may have been thinking about focussing on the League & promotion, but after a slow start as far as they are concerned, they may see a cup win as being important to kick-start their season. We may have poked them yesterday, and awaken them from their slumber? Or, it may be a fair reflection and we're genuinely a better team than them?

Which is all to say...

...I've got no chuffin' idea!!!

I'd start with Mark in goal. Keep the defence the same as they're working as a unit. I'd begin with Cranston in the middle. I wonder how close AJ is to a run out? O'Sullivan may need to be rested if the knock he received yesterday still hurts?

1-1 after 90 minutes.
(Then extra time and Halstead the penalty saving hero!)

David Cameron. May 4th 2015.
So how did that work out then?

I'd like JB to give a run out to Sutton, Brewitt, Jagne and Gomez with Cole and Shaun up top.

Mark obviously has to start and maybe give Brownsword a run out to see if he shows the confidence that Drummy mentioned at last seasons players night.

On the bench I'd have Howard, Lynch, Bakare and Hawley.

Unless we test the entire squad in games like this then come the time when they are needed in the EFL we'll never know if they have what it takes.

Tough game to predict

They beat Accy 6 - 1 couple of years ago so they will take it serious

Think we will make more changes than them

Another lose, lose situation for JB, unless we win of course. Mansfield WILL set up to win this game.
Wholesale changes, and we don’t win, then it’s all the negativity about cup runs etc.
For me, let’s play with the team we did Sat, where possible and take it to them again. Ring the changes only if necessary. We can beat them, as proved on Sat.
Injuries are always a worry, but always will be, in any match. Release Bucko again, they don’t like it up em.  ( big fan of Sutton too) COYS.

That's what I expected, but so far I'm the only one to predict a score!

2-1 loss I'm afraid. Pretty sure Jim will make changes and keep key men away from injuries.

We need a cup run to bring in some cash so we need to be positive and put out our strongest team! Anyone remember what a cup run is?

Team selections will be interesting tonight. I suspect that we will make more changes than Mansfield in order to give our large squad some critical game time.

As for a score, I'll go for a narrow but significant win for our lads 1-2.
