We don't get the ball forward fast enough, and if we do the forwards are too far behind the play. Too much playing across the pitch letting the defence get back. The damage was done in the first half again.

Don't think it was anything serious, just a bang on the nose!

I don't think we've played too badly against one of League Two's biggest clubs. Worrying the number of goals conceded after looking quite solid at the back previously.

So how did that work out then?

Not seen the goals conceded this week but I don't think the back 3 are a concern. I don't think the midfield protects them enough and they are too easy to get at. The full back/wingback area is our soft spot and we lose so many goals that originate from that area. Brewitt looked decent but after a little run in the side, he is bombed out. The rotation of the strikers doesn't help anyone because besides Lewis, nobody gets chance to play themselves in to form.

Looking at the match stats, seems like we made some improvements, but only 5 points from 6 games is very worrying.

How many points did we have last season after 6 games

Scunthorpe and Walsall who both came down from league 1 have had shocking starts as well

Do we know if only 1 team will be relegated this season after the sad demise of Bury

At the start of the season things were looking good. Reports were that everything was buzzing with the new season ahead and even Jim was sounding optimistic. Looking at the table we appear to have played more teams in the top half than those in the bottom half but we need to start winning soon. It's certainly not been the start that we were hoping for.

Yes (currently) only one side going down this season. Unless Bolton goes tits up and the FL change their mind over Bury, which i doubt. So only have to find 1 team worse than us this season.

Things looked quite good, then the season started! Lots of players coming and going but sadly the style of play remains the same.

Not the same style as we were playing at the end of last season........or at least the results aren't the same.

THIS WAS A MESSAGE POSTED ON SWINDON FORUM

Morecambe looked half decent in midfield, they had a striker/winger that looked ok, the rest of the team was shit TBH.

They never looked like turning us over at all today.

We did our job, we didnt need to extend ourselves or turn up a gear, the defence still worries me at times but that was a solid professional performance, we won, we didn't need to do anything 2nd half even if that does upset us as fans.

Wow, their fans get upset at winning a game easily. Who allows that?

It would appear to be so. We need to carry the ball more to the opposition from the start. We seem to have to go behind before we start to play. We play some good passing football, but it stalls in the final third of the pitch, that's when we start the cross the pitch play. I like the players we have and I hope they soon gel and we get the results we all want.

That second half sums it up for me really. We needed to come out and attack to get back into the game, other than the first 5 minutes the rest of the second half was utterly pedestrian. They barely needed to try, we were slow and never looked like challenging.

There are bright sparks, but never enough to make it look like we are going to win.

Defence was shocking first half as well, usually I'd agree that they don't get help from midfield, but for 5 at the back they were carved apart with ease. I hope that's just a one-off, because I expect a lot better from our defenders. One thing I would say is Swindon split us wide, often with 2 or 3 players around our fullbacks. Our formation didn't give the fullbacks any support, so they were passed around with ease. When we attack, there's rarely an overlap or a spare man. It's constantly a chore to break them down and get chances, our only goal came from winning the ball back and catching them off-guard.

I actually think we look like a good footballing side but the combination of players is too static and we lack pace and movement.

The only real movement in the side seems to be Shaun Miller. Last season the pace and incision came when we signed Collins, additionally Bennett knew how to find space, and Cranston and Oates knew how to run with the ball (and we’re playing neither of those).

Could only listen to today’s game, so can’t make comment, but as pi$$ed off as everybody with the result, and some of the comments that are coming back from fans who were.

For me, getting a fully fit Aj back on the field is a priority. The current form/ performance of Cole S, and Shaun M, just isn’t good enough. Hopefully it will come soon, but Aj has looked sharp in his short appearances off the bench. The whole team,( and supporters,) need that boost, that comes from scoring goals, often leading to the results we all want. Aj can do that, along with the on fire Lewis A.

Lewis is well and truly in the shop window with him only being on a short term deal. How long before a club comes in for a striker on form and we are screwed again?
