Morecambe 2 [Brewitt, Howard] Wolves 2 (Wolves win on pens)

Good second half. Mendes-Gomes looked better last season! Oates was 'okay' but didn't really grab his chance again. Michael Howard looked good. Tanner was my MotM but wouldn't argue with Cranston being given it. Could have gone to Buxton too, he's definitely worthy of starting League matches. Kev showed he's still quick and worthy, I thought he played well too.

Halstead... I thought his positioning was poor for the free kick and not great for their second. But made a couple of excellent saves later. Still nothing in it between Barry & Mark in my opinion, although I'd be looking beyond this season.

Second half was decent. Just a shame that we score our first four penalties and still lose.

I would have taken a better penalty than the lad who missed the crucial one and that is not a joke it was a dissgrace. Lad should be ashamed of himself he always looks pretty turd whenever I see him play so not surprised really. Blown a good opportunity there as a win in shoot out would make the next game significant / but the one point is useless due to the shocking goal difference. Another good opportunity squandered - sick of walking out of this ground angry time and time again.

Seriously?

He's a nineteen year old lad who scored the equaliser and had a good game when he came on.
Not bad, scoring on your debut.

How many players have to take a penalty in their first competitive, first team game?

Why not cut him some slack, there were much more senior players who didn't want to take a penalty, so fair play to the lad for choosing to take one.

Enjoyed the game. No long winded attempt at technicalities. The better team over the 90 minutes........lost.

Think I got my wires crossed as I don't know every player inside out.

Nevertheless, the final penalty that missed was very poor and I genuinely would have done better. No professional footballer should be missing the target from the spot.

We played well and should and deserved to win.

Shame were are effectively out of the competition as if the game against Carlisle meant something it would have brought a good crowd.

Are you both referring to Michael Howard?, obviously Keith is... His penalty was saved, then Gomez slipped and sent it flying over the bar
Enjoy yourself.... It is later than you think

Still think that's a bit of an overreaction to Mendes Gomes's miss. Opened his body up, sent the keeper the wrong way but slipped as he tried to wrap his foot around the ball and got massively under it. Not like any other professional footballer has missed the target after slipping... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3tWqZ0pNC8

Happy to hear that Michael Howard put himself about well. How did Brewitt do? If he develops well then he could solve a lot of problems for us - a defensively minded midfielder who is also technically capable.

No point in blaming anybody for the missed penalties but a hell of a responsibility for both lads coming off the bench and being big enough to take the pens. Showed character which was lacking in some more senior players.

We should have and could have won the game before the lottery of pens but let's remember that the style of football in this cup is a far cry from the hard, physical style of EFL2.

Wonder if Michael Howard will be on the bench on Saturday. Did enough to be given the chance. Could he be the Collins replacement?
