Bradford City Predictions

You wouldn't even know there is a game Saturday nevermind the biggest home gate of the season. No publicity, no incentives for lost fans and no buzz on here. Sad times.

Looks like bare bones ahead of tomorrow

Conlon, Sutton, Tuttle, Oates and Cranston all due to be missing

Manager can you use the bare bones excuse if we lose ... not used that for a while

Would we actually miss any of these 5 though? Conlan maybe but enough cover for him. Tutte is okay. The other 3 don't play now anyway

I did like how your text to Radio Lancs last week, you said [something like] 'I'm sad to say, Jim Bentley needs to go now.' Sad to say??? You've said nothing else for about six years! You've just pointed out, we've got most of our midfield unavailable (have you forgotten Flemo is still a Morecambe player?) We're playing Bradford who are our peers. If you'd suggested that we'd be comparable to Bradford (or Premier League founder members Oldham) or a league higher than Football League founder members Notts County, back in the 1980's when we were playing in front of 250 fans, I'd have laughed at you! FFS have you no grounding in reality?

BerlinWaller wrote:I am not sure who you were supporting/watching Ade when Jimmy Harvey lost his Job to Sammy on his first day back at work. There wasn't the clamour to defend Jim at the time because we had seem what Sammy could do for us. Harvey was a legend and long serving but soon forgotten when Sammy marched us to Wembley. Sammy, despite being our greatest manager ever was not and still isn't immune to being knocked on here. PMG is the man who funded our rise with players like Twissy, Baker and others but gets treated with contempt by some. It is the nature of the beast.

It was pretty much common knowledge that Jim was for the sack before his heart attack, following the Northwich Victoria debacle in the FA Cup the previous week. The manner of his dismissal was dreadful and there was a lot of criticism of the club & "Stabby McIlroy" at the time. Jim & Sammy both had relatively much larger playing budgets than Jim has now. That is the crux of the matter. If he was spending roughly the same, relatively, and we were struggling as we are, I'd also be saying he should go. But he is somehow expected to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear every season, season after season. And yet some don't think that's good enough?

I expect Bradford to be too big & too strong for us tomorrow. John will be texting Radio Lancs calling for his sacking because we should be beating teams like Bradford. Berlin Waller will be making remarks about the "Roundup Gang" & playing "Bentley Bingo". I'll be frustrated if we lose, because I always am, but realistic too.

So therefore, the Prediction Competition...
2-0 to Morecambe!

Come on Berlin Waller you can`t say anything against the BENTLEY BRIGADE - You should know that by now lol lol

I have supported / watched Morecambe Fc since 1980 so seen very low periods and a few high points but at the moment it`s currently one of the worst periods and certainly doesn't look like getting any better anytime soon

Here we go again.
Bentley outers are convinced there is a paranoia driven clandestine club that permeates this board, there is, its mostly you lot if you haven’t noticed!! :D

Berlin, you do have the passion, and reading the opinions I don’t feel anyone has demeaned that, however your opinion is there to be challenged as is everyone’s on here, that’s why it’s a forum for discussion.
You can be subtle enough in digging at others, playfully, but others will do the same back. Again that’s the Nature of the board.
Bradford will be tough, I’d love to say we were due a win, so 3-2!!

I'm going 2-2, the best IMO we can hope for.
Mrs O on the other hand thinks a 1-5 defeat is coming our way.

Where have I done that? Feel free to quote me! I have no doubt about your love & passion for the club. I am however allowed to disagree with your opinion.

Redalert1970 wrote:Come on Berlin Waller you can`t say anything against the BENTLEY BRIGADE - You should know that by now lol lol

Roughly translated:
Come on Berlin Waller, you & I should be able to say whatever we want about getting rid of the manager and no-one should be allowed to disagree with us.

Quite clearly you ARE allowed to say what you think because what you think is not being edited or deleted. If BENTLEY OUT BRIGADE weren't allowed to say whatever they want, then their posts would be removed.

But if you & others want to post your views, don't be surprised when other people exercise their right to disagree with you.

Seriously John, I am beginning to doubt your ability to see through your own paranoia and dislike for Jim Bentley and remain in touch with reality. Either that, or your memory is failing you!

Tomorrow we play against a team who in 2000/01 were in the Premiership.
In 1980, when you began watching Morecambe we had such delights as the following home games:

v Burton Albion 2-3
v Grantham 1-4
v Kings Lynn 0-1
v Netherfield 1-4
v Runcorn 0-2
v Southport 1-2
v Witton Albion 0-2
v Workington 2-3

and delightfully...

v Lancaster City 1-3

Our younger fans have probably never heard of most of those! Yes, once upon a time, Lancaster City were the biggest club in the area.

In 1980/81 season we managed to feature in the season's highest home win AND the highest away win, such exciting times!

Morecambe 0 Bangor 9
&
Workington 7 Morecambe 1

Yeah, you are right, this is almost as bad as it has been in the whole time you've supported Morecambe

Yeah, it's amazing! It's almost like I think us still being in the Football League and still being the smallest club every season, with the smallest budget every season & bookies favourite for relegation every season is some kind of achievement to be proud of?

I know you think we should be beating sides like Bradford and failing to do so is a reason for changing the manager and a clear lack of ambition. We simply have a different view of reality.

Give Jim a budget that is average for League Two and I would expect a better performance. Possibly even 'average'. If he had that money at his disposal and we were in the position we now find ourselves in, I'd think you had a point. But he hasn't.

Notts County had a playing budget four to five times bigger than ours last season. Do you think their fans would change places?

Back to the actual subject of the thread, Mrs A thinks they'll walk through us: 4-2 Bradford win. I'm sticking with my current default 2-0 Bradford.

When we look at that table that Keith put up, it's amazing to think how far we have progressed.

It's also pause for thought to consider life as a supporters of many of those other teams, such as the mighty Runcorn (as they were then and later when they won the Conference) and Mossley (what have they done since finishing second that season).

In fact 15 of those teams that finished above us are all either in a lower league than they were then, or have disappeared altogether.

Zooming out to the bigger picture shows how incredibly well we have done are still doing (and we're always guaranteed an FA Cup first round tie now too!).

My prediction for the Bradford game: 1-1
