Tough to see. It's not been a great start to the season for sure, but he's been an incredible servant to the club and I think it's pretty safe to say we wouldn't be where we are now without him.

I hope we can find someone acceptable to replace him.

All the best Jim, thank you for the memories. The 50 yard headers, the 2 goals v Chester and the goal at Deepdale.

Thank you for everything Jimbo.

There have been plenty of times when I have disagreed with his team selections and (perceived) tactics, but that takes nothing away form the fact that he's given absolutely everything to this club, which makes this news gutting to read.

Only time will tell, but could be the right move for both the club and Bentley. He deserves a chance to try and flourish and develop elsewhere as a manager and I sincerely hope he does so.

Always will be a club legend!

A sincere thanks Jim for all you have done over the many years of managing our great club.

We've had both our disagreements and agreements over the years but all with the best intentions for what has been your club.

From our various discussions about players at Turners Field. I will always remember the passion you had and your determination to sign a certain player from Accrington and how grateful you sounded when the deal was done.

I'll also remember the passion you displayed on the touchline when we exchanged heated words about tactics.

I want to wish you all the best going forward. It was obvious that one day you would move on. However I expected it to be a higher league club but the opportunity of this particular new challenge has obviously proved too difficult to turn down.

Jim all the very best. I'll always be grateful for what you have both done and tried to do for our club.

Thank you.

when you see it in print, it kind of takes you back to that moment and feeling of disbelief at Leave winning the Brexit result.

Just like to express my thanks and gratitude to Jimbo for helping make my home town club what it is and the years of success we have seen during his tenure. A true MFC legend. Sincere thanks and good luck in your new challenge.

Pretty sad that it's come to this but it's inevitable given the form we've been in.

I'm still happy that I support a club that had such a great guy in charge for such a long time.

Really hope we've got a plan in place for the rest of the season.

Sad to see Jim go, despite recent poor performances. A club legend and a thoroughly decent bloke.

I will always remember the day I was "trying out" the Manager's parking space at the Globe and was caught by Jim. We had a laugh and he asked if I wanted to pick the team for Saturday - then he got Ken to take a photo of me shaking hands with him. A top bloke!

Thanks for everything Jim, and good luck with the new job - I think you will do well.

I agree with many of the plaudits to our ex-manager but am I the only one left with a feeling of unease that he has left us at the very moment we need him most to help avoid relegation. As I said some time ago we are all in this struggle together and it does seem unfortunate that the offer of a new and better paid job has arisen at this particular time. He will not be given much time at AFC Fylde and the chairman will demand promotion by 2021. Other have tried and failed.

I think if Fylde are not towards the top of league this time next season they will get rid of Jim.

Challinor has done well with them and one bad start and they have got rid of him no signs of any loyality shown.

A sad day, which was always inevitable given Jim's service to the club. Whether you were in, out, or sitting on the fence, we owe Jim a debt of gratitude for his big heart and soul that he put into each role he played at the club. Thank you, and all the best for your future career.

We now move on as a club, and I just hope we can find someone who is able to help us avoid relegation this season, then hopefully onto bigger and better things for the future.

Onwards and upwards.

Sounds like the interview with Colin Goldring on Radio Lancashire that Jim could have been sacked pretty soon if results didn’t improve in next few weeks

Jim resigned before been pushed ???

This is how I will remember Jim, lifting that trophy at Wembley

The stint as manager just makes me feel sad. He brought in some terrific players without much financial leeway and brought the best out of many a cast-off

JB is a Morecambe legend

Time to move on though, so I will be there as usual cheering on whoever pulls on a Shrimps shirt to get us the fuck out of that relegation place. Stop the bitching folks and support the team
