Captain SAM

Captain SAM

What an inspired and confident performance shown by Captain SAM yesterday.

He was dominant in defense and was constantly talking to all his team mates which showed the advantage of having an out field player as Captain. His communication with his fellow defenders was outstanding and was partly responsible for the much needed clean sheet.

Also good to see Mark between the sticks. He kept us in the game with that last minute save.

Long may it continue for both... :!: :!: :!:

Oops sorry about the mistake....

Comes over as a great lad, old head on young shoulders. He was great yesterday in his new role as captain, and reinforced the fact, that he has a big future ahead. A big well done to him.

Hope we have him nailed down or we could be in danger of money coming in for him if yesterday's type of performance continues.

He signed a contract till 2022 so at least we would receive decent money.

I'd rather hope we could keep him for at least another season. Decent centre backs are hard to find, and a decent captain even harder.

I suspect any money we get would just go towards covering losses rather than be put into the players budget. Don't forget the Wolves/Newcastle games were we got a couple of hundred thousands, but the accounts just showed a couple of hundred thousands smaller loss that year rather than increase in wages! I've since wondered if that was why Jim never showed much interest in cup runs, knowing the winnings/TV monies wouldn't actually benefit him/players.

Yes , the accountancy requirements would no doubt mean it went into reducing the losses. It would be nice if it was sufficient to buy PMG Leisure and all the 3g pitches back from the administrators and have them back under the club's auspices but that is probably a pipedream.

It's nothing to do with accountancy requirements, it's just a matter of fact that when that income came in, it wasn't spent on additional players salaries but rather to cover existing ones instead of the owners at the time putting their hand in their own pocket to cover them.
