I think he will be a good fit for us - lets hope the owners have freed up a bit of cash for him to bring a couple of new faces in too.

We have a relatively big squad, think he will ship out a few to free up wages for January, would love to see him get Gomez going

Looking forward to seeing how he changes the squad. I remember when Sammy brought in the likes of Adams and Sorvel. Hopefully Derek will be as good at wheeling and dealing.

Well done to the board with getting a quality replacement.

New broom that will mix things up hopefully and finally build the Globe into a fortress.

1-0 wins are his speciality so I hear.

Now Derek has been appointed as gaffer, I just hope the continuous back and forth chat about Jim will cease.

There is no point in saying “Jim would’ve done this instead” or “Jim would never have done that” or “Jim wasn’t like this” etc etc etc

We are all guilty of posting ‘not-so-wise’ things, but now we need to just watch Jim from afar, wish him the best of luck, and not compare him to the new man in charge. All our support is now with DA to deliver our objectives this season, and we need to, as a community, stop with any toxicity that has surrounded the last few days around a living legend who gave everything for this club.

Of course Derek will do things differently, and has a different outlook on football, but we all, myself imcluded, need to recognise that we had Jim for so long that any little niggle that may spring up, that didn’t spring up before, isn’t a huge issue that needs to be over-exaggerated, and we need to give Derek time and space to stamp his methods on the club.

From the interview posted in another thread, he sounds like a perfect fit, so big credit to the board for getting a solid replacement so quick.

A great appointment, well done the board, and welcome Derek.

42% win rate over 12 years of management is excellent, a proven success, his past record suggests a lot of comings and goings regarding players and staff, and although not particularly exciting to watch, his team's are organised and hard working.

Our salary level for a manager must be quite decent then if Hearts couldn't tempt him.

Showing loyalty already, that's a good start.

Should our Board have said to him that 'we realize that Hearts are a big club in Scotland and that if you wish to discuss the position with them then you have our blessing.... :?: '

A real quality appointment - well done to all involved.

Not a 'star' name, nor someone linked with what we've had previously - which shows they have listened to the supporters. Instead someone with proven experience at this level, who creates hard-working, successful teams.

I'm super chuffed with this - welcome to the family, Derek!

Agree with all of above just slightly worried that his style of football may not be as attractive to watch BUT we are in a result based industry and his win ratio is very impressive.

One thing for sure, even if we play crap I'll still be there as I approach my 63rd year of support. My first ever game was in the FA Cup so tomorrow is a bit of a landmark for me..... :)

Let's just give him a chance to show us what he's made if. I'm sure if we start winning more than we lose at home there won't be too many complaining about lack of entertainment, although as the saying goes, 'you can't please all of the people all of the time'.

It is better to win the worst ever cup final 1-0 than to lose the best ever cup final 5-4
