Macclesfield in big big trouble

Postby Redalert1970 » Fri Dec 06, 2019 3:00 pm

Game against Crewe called off tomorrow

EFL will now sanction them

They are possibly going the same way as Bury

Sad sad situation. Players sleeping in their car and no money to pay rent etc

We should be looking to sign a player or 2 from them. Who was that little winger , maybe Scottish who hit the woodwork against us and had a really good game.

Could be Archibald? The way MTFC are imploding it may well end up as no teams relegated from EFL 2 this season if they end up like Bury.At the very least they must be looking at a points deduction as happened with BWFC. Very very sad but could work in our favour.

Archibald was on loan at FGR last season, we won at their place 1-0, a real smash n grab, he was their best player on the day, a real handful.

Archibald is a great player, entertaining and lively , it would be tragic to see Macc fold, and embarrassing to stay up purely by default.

Your compassion shows no bounds, have to say though if we stayed up because 2 Clubs get kicked out of the League then most Shrimps would take it

No different to us losing Barkhuizen when we did. Macc may look to offload/sell some players in January. Better to get their finances in order and play their youth team for the rest of the season and get relegated, rather than go bust.

I have some sympathy for Macc's plight but remember we got into the Conference purely down to Marine's ground being unsuitable so some would claim outside of our club that we got up by default.

They were the rules at the time so everybody knew if Marine won the league second place would be a promotion spot. We also got promoted to the Football League without being champions! No shame in that! Be sad to see Macc fold, had many an exciting encounter with them over the years. I recall after they got i nto the league a few years ago they got a grant to build a new stand but put a small temporary stand up and used (allegedly) funds for other things!
Don't worry be happy!

According to there website they are in advanced talks of been sold

So any thoughts of them been kicked out of league are a bit premature

Can't agree with that. We knew that a couple of draws would see us safely second and promoted, so instead of playing [Boston?] and trying to win and then Colwyn Bay, we were happy with a couple of draws. If we'd needed to become champions in order to go up we'd have played differently in those last couple of games in my opinion. Instead, we did what was needed safely.

As always in these situations, the interests of the most important people in this (The fans) will come last.

Thankfully there was no 93rd minute goals for the opposition otherwise we'd have been snookered.....but it all turned out well in the end.

That will drop them to 18 points

Good news for us but a real sorry state of affairs especially for the fans

I have thought for a while that Macclesfield are the team we have to target to avoid bottom place even when they were up in the top area of the table. We play them at home and it is a must win.

Wonder if the 3 points we took off them get taken off us?

Basically all Macclesfield’s games this season are made void.

Sad day for them and their fans. They're still three points ahead of us with a game in hand. We still really need to focus on getting ourselves off the bottom.

I'd still rather see Macclesfield & us both survive and Stevenage go down, especially now Westley is back there!

The game tomorrow is in doubt, presumably 4 more points docked if they miss it

If Macclesfield did completely go before the end of the season it wouldn't matter would it if we lose 3points, as we would be safe by default with noone getting relegated.
