Morecambe 1 (Mendes-Gomes) Oldham 2

Started really well, completely bossed it for first 20 minutes. Trouble is, no shots on target and their keeper hasn't had a shot to save. Hit crossbar though. Mendes-Gomes buzzing but AJ off the pace.

Then they scored. Long shot fumbled and they were first to respond. Since then, they've grown in confidence. Not out of it but need to shoot.

Cole missed a sitter at 1-1. If he'd put that away, completely different but once we went 1-2 down we never looked like getting back in to it.

13 defeats from 23 games is simply abysmal

We are lucky very lucky that Stevenage are awful as well

Plus depends what happens to Macclesfield in the next couple of months

I said this game would show us where we're at and it looks as if we are still deep in the danger zone and depending on clubs around us.

We need at least a point a game average from now to end of season

That would give us 41 ... Would that be enough !!!!

Unlucky for me. Competed with a very good Oldham side and it all swung on Cole's miss and Miller should have done better from a yard out. Kev struggled to influence the game but Carlos shone again. We need to find 2 midfielders to play along side the impressive Brewitt. Good game to watch.

Unlucky!

It’s not like we sat back playing for a point and only reacting when we go behind like of old.

We’d created enough chances to win the game, Stockton should of hit the target with the goal at his mercy, but can be forgiven, he put in a good shift physically.

Disappointing result, as the better footballing side over the 90+ lost. A bit more quality in the final third, during the first half, and we would have had the game rapped up. Thought Cole tried to be a bit too fancy with his “nailed on,” should have just smashed it home. Roll on the Bradford. COYS.

I thought the difference was Oldham's wide players they looked so dangerous every time they had the ball.

The 2nd also came after Halstead slapped at a cross instead of catching it.

Like recent games we seem to dominate possesion but again did little with it we have no final ball and our crossing is shocking. Not quite the tappy tappy football of late either but I think that is more to do with Oldham getting at us a bit more.

We seem to go hard at teams for the first 20 mins but then run out of steam and then we try and do the same in the second half. I think after 65/70mins we went flat and Oldham really started back into the game and was suprised there was no subs. I thought Derek's subs were poor today late and not really game changers I think lewis would have been better than miller and though Ellison would have come off after 70mins.

Our set pieces were shocking whats with all the short corners and faffing about and free kicks were just as bad.

We still have that vulnerability in defence especially when teams run at us, one second we look solid then all of a sudden we fall to pieces, even the first goal all that started by them hitting us on the break then it's like we panic and then there is a comedy of errors.

I think we need a new CB to go alongside Lavelle I didn't think Old was great today looked a bit slow and would be happier just playing the long ball.

I think sometimes people need to look at how much ground Kev covers! I'd bet if there were GPS stats available, Kev was second only to Carlos in terms of ground covered, possibly even more as Carlos went off exhausted. I don't think Kev has a problem with 90 minutes and while not my MotM, he certainly was closer to it than most players.

Old took a whack on the nose which appeared to take him out of the game for a while.

To me, they were two very even sides. Oldham just got a bit luckier. Their second, literally thirty seconds earlier, down in their penalty area, I commented that a sliced clearance or deflection, "could have gone anywhere, but went straight to their defender". Then two deflections in our area both landed at the feet of their players!

If we didn't have bad luck, we'd have no luck at all...

AGAIN!

Oldham are one of the form teams. In the last eight, they've only lost once, to Swindon, and have won four. They didn't look *THAT* much better than us.

If Macclesfield don't go under we will go out of the league, unless Derek can do a "Jimbo"......

As a big critic of match officials this season I think praise is due to yesterday's referee. I thought he had a good game, getting most of the big decisions correct. Gossip at the game suggests DA has four new players lined up to join us in the transfer window. Wonder who they are and their positions? Are Alessandra, Tutte and Wildig Fylde bound?

Possibly and if Andy Fleming's injury has passed the tests of the insurance company then that would make 4 new signings viable if the 3 you mentioned do move to Fylde.

I can see Buxton, Tutte and Lewis heading down the coast but would be sad to see Wildig go. You can clearly see who DA fancies and who he wants out now. If those 3 join Fylde, you can see Jimbo doing a Jimbo at Fylde.

Agree, I thought all 3 officials yesterday were generally good.

Look forward to our new signings, if gossip is true, and hopefully even more improvement on field.
If Fylde are chasing new players, which they obviously will be, then they have the money available to bring in who they want, and need. A privilege we rarely have, unfortunately.

I didn’t think they were better than us, bar the last 20 minutes when we flagged and our awful short corner and free kick routines. I thought we played well and I enjoyed the performance and the game. We just need to test the keeper with more shots on target. Referee deserves credit for his good game too.

I have seen enough the last 1.5 games to think we might stay up, which would be a miracle. We need a new CM to partner Brewitt, who ran his socks off. Our left wing also needs looking at if Derek doesn’t like Cranston.

Buxton instead of Wildig I heard? There are definitely 4 potential signings currently training with us. We have saved wages too with our assistant manager and goalkeeper getting recruited from within, even if they had a pay increase.
