Shrimperteer you say Derek has had a good start

I disagree ... We have taken 9 points from 33 since he came in and have been hammered 3 times on the road

Things have to change very quickly

The only positives are we aren't cut adrift (yet) and there is still 18 games left (54) points

Since he got his own players in then its 4 points from 3 matches and by all accounts we weren't hammered yesterday. If he can find a goalscorer and a commanding goal-keeper we can win enough games.

Red alert is correct, he has allegedly cracked the whip a bit to appease the Jim out brigade , but as yet his results are poor, his remit for this season is to keep us up, and given that it's possible that no one will go down ,that's highly achievable, but anything better than survival requires good investment in a business that is more than likely always going to lose money, the club is a much more attractive proposition to players thinking of signing now than it has been for years due to a stable boardroom , decent training facilities , and no recent disasters regarding finance and wages, but the wages themselves will always be low, so bar the addition of quality loanees such as Tanner , Phillips and Cooney, the bulk of the squad will be average at best, and the annual flirt with relegation inevitable.

We lost 4 - 1 yesterday on paper that's a hammering and we will get relegated if results do not improve simple as that ..

As for no one getting relegated that will happen as Macclesfield seem to have found a buyer plus the extra 4 point deduction still hasn't been taken off

Have we entered the Twilight zone here or what? MPH, the man who banged on about negativity and hammered Redalert at every opportunity is now agreeing with him? Even though nobody is allowed to say the J word, MPH churns it out every chance he gets. Even The Daily Keith which once proudly pounced on anyone who dared express concern at how the team is performing has turned 180 degrees at is predicting disasters and HUGE upcoming games. At least John is consistent.

From all reports that people who actually went have given it was a misleading scoreline and we could and should have scored maybe a couple before they scored. We need a commanding goal-keeper , every high cross that goes into our box gets flapped at and their first goal yesterday looks like a gift. If you went and think it was a hammering then that is your opinion to which you are entitled. For me Derek has tackled a really tough job admirably so far but for whatever reason the squad he inherited was too big , unbalanced and in certain positions of poor quality.

give over, surly you’re not suggesting Derek reads Morecambe fans social media

a Plymouth fan did come on SVs after his appointment and can be quoted saying Derek will get you organised and strict on discipline.

so there, with brass nobs on :P

We were “hammered” in scorline only GS.

Their 1st goal, in real time, wasn’t really Mark’s fault. The ball was heading fairly tamely toward goal, which MH looked to have covered. Their forward, who looked offside, then cleverly feigned,( or maybe he cocked it up) a touch toward the ball, which made Mark readjust toward his left, but in fact he didn’t touch it, and it continued along it’s original path to the right, where Mark would have had it covered, imo. Totally against the run of play.

2 goals and 15 against

That's relegation form

Still got to visit Cheltenham, Forest Green, Exeter and Newport as well

All those teams other than Cambridge are top 7? Crewe we were down to 10 early. And Plymouth was 0-0 coming upto half time and that all changed within two minutes. It will be our home form that keeps us up.

Thanks for putting that on Andy, being a tech nerd, Inalways rely on somebody else.

With regard Mark, DA is the manager, and has made his decisions regard “mistakes.” He obviously had some doubts/ thoughts in his mind, the fact that he signed the new lad. So we will be seeing him in the next game, most likely. Mark wasn’t flawless yesterday, just as any keeper, in any league isn’t every game, but I feel too much is being directed towards him for “blame.”
A goalies “battle” within a game is to prevent goals, obviously. The more times that the 10 men in front of him lose their “battle,” the more saves they need to make. If the goalkeeper saves more than he concedes in the game, then he has won his battle over the 90 for me. Yesterday, Mark made some excellent saves, because he needed to, due to the 10 men in front losing their “battles.” Just how I see it, and maybe too simplistic for some.
Scoring, easy chances is what wins games, and we had more than enough.

We will see. COYS.

Playing devil's advocate though - those saves weren't made until we were already 4 down. I wasn't at the game, but certainly from the highlights, Halstead should have done better.

Do you want to quote me? I repeatedly said that we had a problem. I disagreed with those calling for Jim to go, that in my opinion, any new manager would still struggle with the squad we had. That appears to be correct. Derek is an experienced manager and a good appointment, but can you imagine if Jim was still here and had the same results as Derek has? My goodness, you'd have exploded with rage by now.

Derek has strengthened the squad. Phillips in particular looks class but the other lads are decent too. Now we need to have that Lazarus moment that the Jim out brigade predicted... ...starting on Saturday.

I was there MJ, but without watching the game again fully,I couldn’t put timings to his saves, old age memory mate.

Replay that game, in its entirety, and the only change being that we score all of our chances, and some of them were “easy,” too, we come away with at least a point, probably 3. Interview and fan assessment would have been very different(?) Mark would still have conceded 4, saved numerous, and we would all have been buzzing for another weekend.
The game is won with goals, and we weren’t good enough in front of the onion bag. Should have been wrapped up before they even put a shot on goal.

Not quite as shocking as the opportunities missed in front of goal, to bury the game early doors. :)
