CINDERS

Great memories, the clip misses the Dartford nobheads coming round to our end looking for a scrap after the match
God yeah - I remember that.....me and my mates climbed out on to the track round the pitch to avoid the trouble, only to be turfed back into the terraces by the police on duty!
Same thing happened to us, pushed back over the wall into the carnage which was happening on the terrace. Bit scary for 15 year old kids. Also remember going into the tunnel under the stand to get out and a huge ruck going on in the concourse. A Police horse then galloped straight into them sending them flying like skittles. The glorious 70's eh? Took your life in your hands at some games!
I had my 10 year old nephew with me then and he wanted to join in. I had to drag him away

I was 12 at the time but can't remember all this commotion going on,
Witnessed plenty of it during the 70's, flying platform shoes to the head, had you seeing stars.

There was a rumour that the club sold the cinders for around £1,500 which was a decent sum back then.

How would that equate in today's money.

I can't remember when they went, but guess around 1982? On that basis, £1,500 would be about £5,500 now.

David Cameron. May 4th 2015.
So how did that work out then?

This is quite interesting to play with, when you think how much a TV (for example) was years ago...

£5000 invested back in 1983 and you'd be a multimillionaire right now, put that in the bank now and you'd be on peanuts and dining on beans on toast
