That said, Derek Adams' favoured formation at Plymouth was apparently 4-2-3-1 so I still am going to dream about having an attacking midfield three of O'Sullivan, Devitt and Mendes Gomes.

All depends on the Blackpool manager as whether Jamie is loaned out again as he's on his second season of a two year contract.

Didn't feature much for 'pool last season so a further loan could probably be on the cards.

:?: :?: :?:

Signed on loan for Bradford by Gary Bowyer who left the club a few months back. Bowyer rumoured to be one of those interviewed for Bolton job so he may link up there eventually.

Did he feature at all? Grayson bombed him out straight away. He hardly featured for Bratfud due to injury and suspension.

Devitt was signed by Terry McPhillips for Blackpool, who then left shortly after and was replaced by Simon Grayson who decided he didn't fancy Devitt.

A few factors in play - Neil Critchley is now in charge at Blackpool so it depends on if he takes a shine to him, Gary Bowyer to Bolton etc. As much as I'd love Devitt back, I hope he ends up getting a chance in League One.

I wouldn't have offered Slew a contract.

Is Baz still a coach or is he leaving?

Always some decision a manger makes that doesn't sit well with some fans.

For me letting Oates and Jagne go are a mistake as is offering Slew a years contract. DA obviously sees something in the guy that others probably don't.

As for Baz maybe he wanted to go and explore other avenues but we'll see in time if he is still Goalkeeping coach. If he goes he can be proud of his record with us but for me his shot stopping from distance had become suspect.

Maybe a few of those leaving will find a new home just down the road at AFC Fylde.

Just hope that Kevin finds a club and that we award him with a testimonial game in recognition of his outstanding performances over the years. He deserves nothing less.... :) :) :)

Would have liked to see Oates retained as well.

Tough to see Baz and Kev leave like this. Hope they end up somewhere where they're happy.

Really looking forward to seeing what Derek can do with a full summer transfer window

Baz has retired from playing. He has posted 'time to focus on a next chapter in coaching' on Instagram @rochebarry . He has also set up a coaching page similar to Alex Kenyon's.

Christoffer Mafoumbi has been released by Blackpool, maybe he will return to give Mark Halstead some competition.

Pleased to see Wildig, Old and Kenyon being offered new contracts. A year ago, I'd have been happy to see them be released, but they've really progressed under Derek and I think there's more to come from them.

So if calculations are correct we now have a squad of 13. D.A. said he wanted a smaller squad, so how many does he now try and sign ?

Derek will probably want 6 or 7 more in before the season starts around xmas lol

The wage bill will be certainly a lot smaller now the likes of Tutte and Sutton have been released

Heard a big RUMOUR at work last night that we are making 1st signing later this week which will excite most fans

Derek has kept a very solid nucleus and with a few quality additions it'll be a good season, when it starts.

You could almost guess our summer signings in previous years. You just had to look at the release lists of Tranmere, Bury, Rochdale etc. DA proved he can bring in players from further afield in January so this could be an exciting summer.

No denying that Derek has a good demeanor and I can see why players would want to play for him,
Here's to him bringing in more of the same and taking the club further than it's ever been.

1Barry Roche (G) - Gone upstairs
21 Mark Halstead (G) - Stays - 2-year deal https://www.morecambefc.com/news/2019/j ... -new-deal/ - May try to sell
28 Andre Filipe Da Silva Mendes (G) - Stays
37 Christoffer Mafoumbi (G) - Goes - Back to Blackpool
2 Adam Buxton (D) - Gone
3 Luke Conlan (D) - Stays - 2-year deal
5 Steven Old (D) - Stays
12 Richard Sutton (D) - Goes
14 Tom Brewitt (D) - Goes - We have a one-year option on him but I understand he may join the Liverpool FC coaching staff full-time https://www.morecambefc.com/news/2019/j ... morecambe/
16 Sam Lavelle (D) - Stays - 2-year deal
25 Ibrahim Bakare (D) - Stays
30 Ryan Cooney (D) - Goes - Would love to keep him but Championship level player
33 Jordan Cranston (D) - Stays - 2 year-deal - but I think hasn't been good or consistent enough
4 Alex Kenyon (M) - Stays - I think he sees enough in Alex
6 Andrew Tutte (M) - Gone
7 John O'Sullivan (M) - Stays - 2-year deal
8 Andy Fleming (M) - Gone
11 Kevin Ellison (M) - Goes (would love to see him working in Academy though)
15 Aaron Wildig (M) - Stays - really improved under DA
20 Lamin Jagne (M) - Goes
22 Joe Lynch (M) - Gone
23 Tyler Brownsword (M) - Gone
29 Amilcar Codjovi (M) - Gone
31 Adam Phillips (M) - Goes - Looked excellent but subbed a lot and dropped off
32 Toumani Diagouraga (M) - Stays
32 Freddie Price (M) - ??? - Didn't know he'd been moved up to 1st team squad
9 Cole Stockton (F) - In the balance - Definitely goes for me, he's been shocking in front of goal for four years, yet may get kept
10 AJ Leitch-Smith (F) - Stays - 2-year deal
17 Michael Howard (F) - Goes - We have an option on him and no idea what DA thinks of him https://www.morecambefc.com/news/2019/m ... d-signing/
18 Rhys Oates (F) - In the balance - No evidence from this season and what DA thinks
19 Carlos Mendes Gomes (F) - Stays (I hope) - Depends on whether he's been scouted
24 Shaun Miller (F) - Gone
26 Kyle Hawley (F) - Goes (?) - Was on loan at FC United and only made 2 starts
27 Harvey Bradbury (F) - Goes back to Millwall
29 Jordan Slew (F) - Goes - I hope - really not good enough

Anyway, just my fourpennuthwuth.

All correct bar Slew, which I still can’t get my head round. I presumed Oates would go but I thought he should stay, but couldn’t decide either way.

Gutted that Kev has to leave this way. Deserved a send off in a final game. Hope we can do something for him.

Oates has tweeted he is feeling fitter than ever, but imo you really cant be risking getting only 24 appearances from 2 seasons, the lad has been so unlucky with injury, he's still only 25!

I can only think that Jordan Slew has qualities the manager sees in training but has yet to show in matches. So far we have seen nothing to explain why Blackburn Rovers paid big money for him, He doesn't seem to show any energy or fire to impose himself in matches and barely makes any real impact. The manager does seem to show good judgement in his selection of players so lets hope in the next season Jordan justifies the manager's confidence in him. At the moment the jury is still definitely out.

Sometimes you have to let people go just to free up the wage bill even if they could still do a job but maybe not consistently, sometimes if you are out of contract you can just be unlucky.

I've not been particularly impressed by Slew, but a bit harsh to say he's not showing any energy/fire. I think commitment has probably been his most positive contribution during his stay. Has worked hard whenever I've seen him, and put a shift in defensively. Decent in the air too.

Technical ability/dribbling seems to be the let down, lets his touch run away from him - seems short on confidence as well in that regard. He's pretty quick though, so I always thought he'd have been better on the right instead of the left where Adams usually played him. That way he could use his pace to go round the outside of players, as he looked uncomfortable trying to dribble inside from the left onto his right foot.

Point made earlier about this released list probably freeing up some decent wages. I think Tutte would have been one of our highest earners - in his 'prime' years and if it wasn't for injury, would be a top League Two player.

No real surprises in the released list. Feel for Oates as injuries have done for him and just as he was getting back to fitness and a chance to show Adams what he's got, the season gets cancelled. Shame about Brewitt too as I think he had some really promising qualities but we are already well subscribed in defensive midfield and obviously there may be his own ambitions to coach. Liked Jagne too but again, injuries have done for him (as well as a bloated squad meaning he never got much of a chance).

Doubt Oates would be getting many contract offers if he tweeted he was ready for knackers yard unfortunately liked him as a player but with a smaller squad going forward you need more reliable players as much as possible.

Trust Dereks decision on Slew obviously got a tune out of him before and was probably the only one who didn’t cut the mustard of all his signings

Ive said it before but I think Slew does an important job on the left. At times though he has looked a little out of his depth but hopefully with a pre season behind him, he may come back sharper.

It is going to be a buyers market in the summer so i totally understand why DA has let players like Reece go. Chances are you will get a better player for less money this window. DA will have a blue print and will sign players that match that rather than shoe horn players in to the team.

Certainly a very able and competent player, but only when it suited him. A real split personality at times. Sometimes he'd make some brilliant moves and other times he made it clear he didn't want to be there - just stood on the pitch making no effort at all. Also, kicking/throwing stuff around when the last sub was made and he knew he wasn't getting game time isn't good. I get the feeling he thought he was too good to be at Morecambe and it frustrated him.
