Must admit I'm quite surprised we've gone for a left-back since we have Conlan and Cranston there, but Cranston was playing in midfield more last season so I guess that's where he'll play from now on? I did think Cranston was better in midfield.

Looks like he has some good pedigree, but will obviously have to wait until we see him in action. Seems promising though!

Looks to have been floated that he can play at CB (might be handy in emergencies) but really looks like he's a LB first and foremost. Cranston hasn't featured in midfield really under DA, especially since establishing himself as first choice. I think a large part of this was due to his attacking abilities over Conlan, so maybe there's a move away being sorted for Conlan? Can't imagine DA sees 3 LBs as viable in a 22 man squad.

He is 5'10 so that is a decent height for a full back.

I felt left back was a weakness for us even though Conlan improved under DA and stopped giving the winger 10 yards to put a cross in. Hoping he is comfortable on the ball and able to put some good crosses in

And here we see Adams' far more extensive knowledge and contacts being put into play here. Looks a good signing.

I agree with this. Conlon isn’t a bad player but the left back position looked like our weak link last season so this is quite a rational signing. I’m sure we’ll also sign a right back and a couple of centre backs before the season starts.

If his stats are to be believed then he didn't feature that much last season BUT DA obviously has faith in him and that's good enough for me.

Wonder if DA's father was influential in his arrival as he watches a lot of Scottish Football at all levels :?:

Conlan does give the wide players too much room to cross. Looks like Derek has addressed that problem. I would love to see either Tanner or Cooney for right back. And be nice if we can sign Phillips for midfield :D :D :D :D

Burnley have offered both new contracts so the best we could hope for are loan deals.

Probably more chance of signing them on loan than signing them on permanent deals as someone would outpay us. They pushed their careers on very well in their loan spell with us which should have impressed Burnley.

Both did really well and enjoyed their time here, makes perfect sense for Burnley to keep them only a few miles down the road to monitor their progress.

He's not the first player in the squad who had a £1m transfer on his head and I'm still not convinced on that one but we'll see
In DA we trust

...but Tanner is a free agent having been released by United. Unless there is a lot of money involved, I can't imagine him rushing to Salford City after not even making the bench with them. He'd be a cracking signing for me.

Hope very much I'm wrong but suspect that GT is out of our price range and will probably go to a Championship club. Both Blackburn and Derby County have expressed an interest before in him so that division seems the most logical place for him....but with over 1500 players out of contract and waiting to get signed up somewhere who knows if GT regards EF2 better than nowhere.... :?: :?: :?:

Tanner would be a great signing for me, however his future may well lie elsewhere, and good luck to him.
It would be a backwards step for both Phillips and Cooney to return to Burnley under23 team, but again, perhaps they will test their abilities on loan in League 1, As they both have the quality.
If we got any of those three , that would be a coup.
