He has followed Derek around which suggests there may be fire to go with the smoke.

He left Plymouth in Summer 2019 after Derek had gone even though they wanted him to sign a new contract.

At long last a bit of realism from a manager. Just hope that the players take note......

So with those contracts, the squad now is:

GK: Halstead
RB:
LB: Cranston, Conlan
CB: Lavelle (Bakare?)
DM: Diagouraga, Kenyon
CM: Wildig
AM/W: O'Sullivan, Mendes Gomes, Slew, Price
CF: Stockton, Leitch Smith

Quote from DA on site mentions we now have two first year pros, Price is one so maybe the other one is Bakare? Not sure though.

Eight more senior pros to come in. Guessing we need: keeper, two right backs, two centre backs, a central midfielder, another attacking/wide midfielder and a target man?

A squad of 20 + 2 looks much better than the unwieldy 28 ish we had when Derek took over.

He did say it looked unbalanced so I am watching his squad-building with interest.

Wonder if this guy who has already played for DA is on the Gaffer's radar as a proven replacement for Steven Old.

Will have to be some player to fill that position after the superb performances of Steven especially since DA's arrival.

Jamille Matt , 30 year old striker released by Newport County. Was originally from the North West so may want to return.

We’ve got 12 senior pros excluding Bakare and Price so I’d assume they’re the two first year scholars, and by all accounts they are both ready for the step up

Heard a bit about Bakare through him doing well at Lancaster City, although not heard much on Freddie Price. Anybody know much about him?

Jamille Matt wouldn't be a bad addition I would have thought to fight for a place with Stockton. Good target man, pretty skilful player and a decent goal return, especially considering he's generally not been 'the goalscorer', eg partnered with Amond. Also just noticed DA actually him in on loan to Plymouth for a brief period a few years back!

Matt was Kiddie in the Midlands originally so perhaps a long shot but as has been said he did play for the Cods at one point. He’s a big unit, better on the ground than Big V but not as potent in the air but his record of scoring is better.

Fleetwood paid a lot of money for Matt when they signed him from Kiddy up to £100,000 I think.
Did not realise that big V was potent in the air,he may have won a few headers, but nobody including himself, knew where the ball was going!

So now it's:

GK: Halstead
RB:
LB: Cranston, Conlan, Hendrie
CB: Lavelle, Davis, Knight-Percival, Bakare
DM: Diagouraga, Kenyon
CM: Wildig
AM/W: O'Sullivan, Mendes-Gomes, Slew, Price
CF: Stockton, Leitch Smith

17/22 so far, which means supposedly five players left. A keeper, two right backs, a centre midfielder and another forward/attacker I'm guessing? Ideally, I'd like two more forwards/attackers - one target man for competition with Stockton, and another option for attacking midfield (unless Price is a messiah we have kept under wraps). Would supposedly mean one out, which for me would be at left back as three specialists there seems too many.

Conlan could do a better job on the left wing than at full back , in fact i would sooner have him there than Slow . ;)

Never thought I’d ever hear anyone say the Conlan is good going forward  I think that’s the worst part of his game, he really struggles with crossing especially. Slew actually put in some decent performances, and you never know whether the break and a full pre-season could make him into a good player for us. After all, Derek’s placed his trust in him with a new deal and I’m willing to place my trust in Derek.

Hendrie can cover at centre back and Davis can cover at right back (a la Sutton :? ) so I wouldn’t be surprised if we just bring in an out-and-out right back and leave it at that for our defence (of course depends on how much trust Derek has in Bakare in case of an injury crisis).

As you say, definitely need a number 1, then a right back, then space for at least 3 midfielders and forwards. Only having 3 (4 if you count Wildig) attacking midfielders/wingers, with one of them being the unproven Slew, O’Sullivan being injury-prone and Carlos still being very young and relatively inexperienced, I think that’s an area Derek will surely be looking at/already may have strengthened.

We seem to be getting 1 signing a day drip-fed to us so maybe Derek’s got a few more signed :?: ;)

Sorry but from where i was sat crossing a ball was the best part of Conlon's game , not very good when having to defend . A good right winger would give him a torrid time . :o

Cameron Coxe, 21 year old right back just signed for Solihull Moors on a free. Was rumoured to be signed by Man City so I wonder how that happened

Updated:

GK: Turner, Halstead
RB:
LB: Hendrie, Conlan
CB: Lavelle, Davis, Knight-Percival, Bakare
DM: Diagouraga, Kenyon
CM: Wildig
AM/W: O'Sullivan, Mendes-Gomes, McAlinden, Slew, Price
CF: Stockton, Leitch Smith

2xRBs, CM and an attacker probably still on the list. Not sure if DA will be looking for another AM/W or a target man to cover Stockton. Slew can probably cover target man duties up front, and maybe he has plans to have McAlinden as cover centrally as well?

Pringle signs, Cooney just signed on loan, Phillips coming as well, time for another update!

GK: Turner, Halstead
RB: Cooney
LB: Hendrie, Conlan
CB: Lavelle, Davis, Knight-Percival, Bakare
DM: Diagouraga, Kenyon
CM: Wildig, Phillips, Pringle
AM/W: O'Sullivan, Mendes-Gomes, McAlinden, Slew, Price
CF: Stockton, Leitch Smith

A bit more squad-depth info for posterity’s sake:
- Hendrie can cover at CB
- Knight-Percival & Davis have been known to play at full back
- Alex and Toums can play a bit further forward maybe a box-to-box (if we NEED them to do it!)
- Pringle can play out wide
- McAliden & Slew can also play up top

That’s 21 players in total, and there’s another lad training with the group as well, so that puts it up to 20 senior players and 2 first-year pros - and that was DA’s aim to get to

(Edit: Cooney announced now)
