Macclesfield Town's Point Deduction: 11th August

Macclesfield Town's Point Deduction: 11th August

Postby Keith » Mon Aug 10, 2020 10:21 pm

Unless things have changed again and I've missed something, I think tomorrow is the day we finally find out who will be playing in League Two next season. If Macclesfield have one more point added to their deductions, they are relegated & Stevenage reprieved.

Anyone want to predict who will stay up? And anyone got a preference?

I suspect most Morecambe fans would prefer Macclesfield, not least due to geography, but also, I think most of us dislike Stevenage simply because of Westley & 'Cheatenage'! Not logical but an emotional response.

Regardless, it is a bit late to be working out which league teams will be playing in... ...funny old world right now.

Must be a record to get just 22 pts from 36 games and stay up

So Macclesfield go down, what a surprise.

EFL say the Independent Panel is truly independent of the EFL.
Independent panel decide not to impose all the point deductions.
Stevenage threaten legal action.
EFL appeal the decision of the Independent Panel.
Independent Panel change their mind and relegate Macclesfield instead.
EFL reinforces that the Independent Panel are independent.

Still feel Macc have been shafted....by a number of Southern based clubs who Wallace has probably had a 'quiet' word with.

Macc are not going down without a fight and are concerned about the National Leagues plans for starting next season. It also looks like they are trying to drag an unnamed club in to it for not paying wages last season. It rumbles on...

They don't want to be seen to be backing down and it's a terrible decision, surely they'll learn from this farce.

Just seen that the High Court have wound up Macclesfield Town FC with debts of over £500,000. Loss of an old foe. Sad day. I can see a lot more clubs being in a similar situation

A real shame to see this situation arise at Macc,a good club with a lot of history. But once again dodgy owners have been in control and caused this situation,we are so lucky that we have got through our situation over recent years.Hopefully someone will come to their aid and keep them going!

Maybe I'm wrong, but I doubt that's possible now? They've been wound up, so the club and company as it was no longer exist and the assets will just be sold off.

They'll probably be resurrected as a phoenix club, and hopefully someone will protect the stadium, but it definitely won't be a continuation of the old club.

No offers for Wigan. Administrators will have to wind them up too if no buyers can be found.

And cant see former owner David Whelan saving them them, DW Sports are rumoured to be in difficulty with the Shop and Gym at risk next to Morrisons.

It's all relative.

Wasn't Sol Campbell one of the creditors and he must have a decent bank balance.

The Neville Brothers have Bury connections but invested their money in Salford City and Bury went to the wall.
