It's early days yet. We have not had a full season under Derek - so, give the guy a chance!

Tonight was a free hit, a bonus, a chance to make some money in a time where the club can't make any. We got beat, we have been shit for 8 years but the ones who loved the last 8 years have suddenly started to expect us to match a premier league side. These are crazy times indeed.

Exactly right - let's get this in perspective.. Back to the bread-and -butter of L2 on Saturday vs Southend we will see what the lie of the land is.....

Matching Cambridge would be nice.

Beating Cheltenham, Oldham and Grimsby was decent. Being Football League still is also nice.

No, I'm just waiting for your promised, promised land, post Bentley. It was all going to change. Saturday was woeful against a League Two side. Cambridge was our biggest home defeat since Bangor. Tonight was embarrassing.

I think Derek is a good manager, but you promised us much more. Hopefully your promise will begin at Southend.

If we lose 5-0 in L2 every week that would be awful, but (so far) that was a one-off in L2. I am confident we will do OK vs Southend on Saturday - not sayin we wil deffo win, but it will be back to businiess as usual in L2 and we will be competitive.

My feeling is that, on the whole,Derek is slightly better than Jim as a manager. But we need to give him a whole season to tell....

(much as I really loved Jim as a great guy and I wish him well at Fylde).

No Keith, you are doing that thing again where you make things up to try and make a point. I promised you that Jim would have taken us down and he would have. If you don't think that we are in a better place now than we have been for 8 years then there is no hope for you my curly haired friend. You and the others can go to sleep dreaming of such highs as Dagenham in the FA cup, Halifax, barky at right back, Adam Buxton, Squeeeeze, never too high never too low. Me, I am looking to the future with bright new beginnings with my mate Halma.

Bang on - after recent seasons - just to finish above the relegation zone is progress. And build from there....

Agree that we can’t be too down about the result given the talent on display from Newcastle.

However, for me there needs to be some changes. From what I’ve seen Cooney and Lavelle, two of our most consistent and best performers last season have earned the right to start. We also need to look at changes at left back. In midfield Alex needs to start to give us some solidity in front of the defence. Finally, McAlinden seems more of a handful than Cole.

The last 2 games have not really helped us to shed the "Little Morecambe" tag.

Something didn't ring true when the Captain was left out and Wildig handed the armband, everything had been going so well up to that point and ofcourse Cambridge took full advantage from it.

Well, we'll never know. But history suggests otherwise.

Of course we're in a far better place now. Diego Lomas & Joseph Cala with unpaid wages compared to now? If you genuinely don't believe that Jim Bentley kept us in the Football League with one arm tied behind his back, season after season, then you are deluded.

We need a big response on Saturday at Southend, not because we were thrashed by a Premier League side tonight but because we were thrashed by a League Two side last Saturday too.

Be honest, what would you be saying if the last two games had been with Jim in charge?

I think someone needs to tell Gareth that Jim left 12 months ago.Seriously deluded correct Keith. Why he still goes on about Bentley he must have a serious problem with him.I am sure if he gave him a ring he would put him right, but hiding behind a keyboard is his style.

Talk a glass eye to sleep, about the last 2 games. The bottom line is, that on Sat, we all need to see some real “plums,” because the effects mentally, must be massive on everyone involved. Seen enough in the previous games to think we can get a result.

Cooney and Lavelle must start imho. COYS.

It was to be expected that we would lose to Premiership Newcastle but we seemed to go down without any fight. It wasn't expected that we would be thrashed by Cambridge but we were. After the bright start at Cheltenham expectations have come crashing back to earth and I wonder if there is some action behind the scenes? Why for example was Sam Lavelle, club captain, on the bench against Cambridge. He has been our best player for several seasons? Why do we seem to lack effort and spirit? Southend is a big game for us. Lose against a weak, troubled team and it will suggest that rather than be comfortable in League 2 we could be in for another relegation scrap.
