Corner routine

Corner routine

How many times in previous seasons have we commented about our poor corner routines. :?: The vast majority always went beyond the far post, whilst this season they are more central and create numerous goal scoring opportunities.

Certainly the change in our style of play is paying off ....thankfully.

Wildig’s corner was perfect yesterday his confidence has grown since derek arrived. He is one of the best players in league 2 when his confidence his high.

At least one player who under a different manager has shown his true potential.

The change has benefited the entire club without question.

It also has done Jimbo good as his AFC team have now won both their opening games.

Win, win all round for me.... :!: :!: :!:

That is such a huge necessity for many players. It is great to see confidence soaring. I watched the league highlights last night. Top of the league and still not on first or even second. 'Nice' but somewhat patronising in their summing up of us. Given that we've beaten two of the highly tipped sides already, I wonder how long we'd need to keep the run going before we're taken seriously? Mansfield coming up soon, I hope our confidence remains high by the time we play them!

So how did that work out then?

I don’t think by any means that we’re going to win the league, but it reminds me of the Leicester title-winning season, where everyone wrote them off as a fluke after the first month or two, but the wins kept coming and one-by-one, people started to recognise Leicester were actually a good side.

I was talking to Joe Crilly who is the football betting guru working for William Hill. I asked him how our relegation odds had moved since pre season when we were the favourites to go down as usual.
He admitted he had us at 10/3 for relegation before a ball was kicked but now he can't find us in the relegation betting market and he thinks we are 7/1 for promotion compared with 80/1 in pre season.

He didn't look very hard then because William Hill are offering 16-1 for our relegation:

We're 6-1 for promotion at time of typing and 28-1 to win the league (this was 200-1 with some bookies before the season started).

Got to agree with that. I don't think we will win the league (yet!) but I do think we're a good side. I have a bet on the 'handicap' league. Morecambe are +25 points.
