Disappointing result but a good performance overall, if we play like that against some lower teams we'll win easily

Why wait until 1-2 down before trying to attack again? We came close once we were behind. Deserved at least a point, but sitting back, too deep, on a 1-0 lead is always dangerous. Lots of hard work but nothing to show for it.

1 - 0 up at half time

Then 2nd half shocking - not a single shot on target

Forest Green 2nd half had 70% possession

Another enjoyable watch. Unlucky

Solid hardworking performance, and credit to the lads. Sitting back and soaking it up, from a team like FGR, sapped every ounce. We ran out of steam, and they took their opportunity. Roll on Carlisle.

Pretty similar performance to Port Vale (not quite as solid today), but a big difference being FGR have Jamille Matt. When the passing stagnated, he was always going to be a dangerous option.

I don't really mind playing defensively but we need to use the ball better when we get the chance in order to take the pressure off us. We were seriously blowing as the second half went on and never really gave ourselves a chance to take the pressure off.

Think that's the next step forward this side really needs to take. When we get the ball in these defensive performances, we need to be able to keep it better and take some pressure off ourselves.

Mid table is OK with me.

Never could maintain our excellent start due in part to today's injuries and virus problems.

As long as we stay mid table rather than lower half then can we really complain after too many seasons of relegation battles.... :?: :?: :?:

I love Red Lert, takes his comments off BBC or some thread, don’t believe all you read matey.
We had a shot on target and hit the bar in the second half, and ended up with more on target than them by the final whistle!!
Gutted for the lads as theY put a shift in but just sat too deep and ran out of legs. Hendrie did well for 70 minutes then looked goosed!
Got to take the chances when we get them is the lesson.

we certainly look more dangerous with McAlinden on the pitch making pacy runs behind defenders. and drawing in fouls.

Fantastic effort but ran out of gas. Having to syb AJ after 60minutes hindered the changes DA could make. The pressure built and we couldn't get off the ropes. Not going to win them all but teams have to work very hard to beat us.

Wildig has rightly won praise for his improvements but Sully has gone under the radar. Glen mentioned him today and he was spot on, the graft he puts in now is top class. I thought he didn't have the heart for it last season but I am happy to say i was wrong.

Agreed, I said before the match I'd prefer him to one of Wildig/Phillips, as they're a bit too similar and don't offer much width.

We've got a bit of a selection dilemma up front. AJ has that knack in front of goal, but Cole offers much more in other areas especially when we're struggling for possession like today. Then for me, in O'Sullivan, Phillips and Wildig you've got 3 players who put in a lot of effort, but aren't naturally creative or goalscorers. None have the pace or flair to beat a man. Our attacks are quite slow and static going through that midfield.

That's what Carlos and McAlinden offer.

That said, all 3 put a lot of effort in and played well. Wildig and Phillips are our top scorers, so which one do you drop?

I think our team looks more balanced as well with 2 defensive mids, I don't think the answer is going back to 4 attacking mids.

Our lads surprised me first half after the first 15 minutes of FGR domination, thought we were brilliant, but ran out of steam at the end.
Shame we got nothing from it, far better entertainment than Man U v Chelsea

Couldn't agree more, looked second best and then stunned them, had a second gone in, I think they'd of crumpled, it was a tremendous effort and deserved atleast a point.

We are beginning to slide down the table and I would feel better if we can get something out of the next two away games. I am not convinced we have the keeper and back four sorted( or are they under pressure because mid-field isn't sorted?). We seem to leak goals when the pressure is on and good performances without getting points is a worry and counts for nothing at the end of the season,

Reality check required here. We're only 8 games in and would have taken it before the season started. However, after those 8 games the first 11 should be settling down, barring injuries and suspension. Like has been said previously, I too am not totally convinced by our back line. Although no one has been under performing, no should also feel like a guaranteed starter, except maybe Turner, who it seems, if fit, will play. DA is no fool, and will be all over it, but it is good to actually have the options to change if needed. UTS.

The back line was as solid as you could have wished for with Alex infront of it, but for injuries it would have remained so.
Get better soon lads!

You've got to remember the back line that played yesterday featured 1 out of the usual 4, Lavelle. Gibson looks like a quality player and would have been a big miss, whilst there's not a huge gap between Cooney/Mellor and NKP/Davis for me, you still had 3 players that haven't been regular starters.

I understand that because of injury we played a makeshift back 4 yesterday but my wider point remains. We have already lost 7-0, 5-0 and 4-0 this season and that suggests there is a problem that needs addressing. As I said earlier I am not sure if this is a problem at the back or mid-field. Also in games when we have conceded we tend to concede again very quickly. I agree DA will sort it but it needs resolving as soon as possible if we are not to continue sliding down the table.
