Morecambe 3 [Mendes-G x2, Phillips] Grimsby 1 Thread

A little bit of a jaded first half where we played ok but struggled to adapt to the conditions. Then when things calmed down a bit in the second half we started getting into our stride more and showed again so much determination and focus to not get rattled and keep chipping away and get a deserved win.

Second half our attacking players really came alive. Phillips found his range, CMG was incisive and spread play well, and two great assists from Slew and Stockton. CMG the star with two goals and assists, but a big shoutout to Slew who came in and did superbly today - effective in attack and defence.

Felt very good to get that third goal and finally get a two goal victory! Zero goal difference, here we come!

I CAN’T STOP SMILING! Our Morecambe team is 5th in the league, ON MERIT! Everyone doubted us (externally but also a few internally to our club!) but my oh my what a brilliant job Derek and the players are doing. Let’s not underestimate the task that Derek and the lads had when he joined, and at the start of this season, but we’ve just made it 6 wins from 7 in all comps, with the only non-win a narrow loss to table-toppers Newport. This is Derek’s world and we’re all living in it! COYS

5th in the league? Shocking isn't it

When can we start to BELIEVE? We are where we are on merit. What a joy this is, how many would we have taken to Bolton had we been living in normal times? On the march with Derek's army

Excellent 2nd half, but the club must get mendes gomes to sign a new contract before we lose him for next to nothing.

Never in doubt. We were the better team throughout, with conditions the only spoiler first half. Another deserved 3 pts, and the “ march ” continues. No team is going to fancy it against us.Next!!

After a really scrappy first half in torrid conditions, and despite of a few dubious yellow cards shown to our players and none to Grimsby for worse tackles, the better team ran away with the points in the end. Once conditions abated, we began to see our great passing and movement. A brilliant run of form, well done Derek and all. A very happy Boxing Day! COYS!!! :D

Have you not learnt yet that at 1 0 down, we can still win games? Under Derek the belief is there that we will turnaround. Under jim this went.

4 points from top. Laughing. Shame you didnt get a positive personality for Christmas.

Don't worry MFC Chris. He only knows negativity. He hasn't posted since we scored. Had we of lost, he'd of been all over this forum. Quite sure he didn't post after the previous wins this month.

I shouldn’t let him get to me, but every time we go 1 down he is straight on posting gibberish about we are shocking, can’t defend, yet another game without a clean sheet etc, but always disappears when we score. I need to ignore him 8-)

Took me ages to work out what you were talking about!

Trying to update the title while watching the game, while celebrating on my own!

David Cameron. May 4th 2015.
So how did that work out then?

Blimey Keith.

How much extra time did the ref add on. Our 3rd goal actually coming the day after the 90th minute. :D :D :D

Just thinking ahead to the FA Cup. We all remember Ronnie Radford / Hereford / Newcastle. Wonder if we might soon be talking about Carlos Mendes Gomes / Morecambe / Chelsea.

Well we can dream can't we?

EFL team of the week comes out and Carlos not included. Two goals and an assist, feels very harsh

Happy with that. Keep him and the rest of the squad under the radar for as long as possible, certainly until January has been & gone. I'm not actually bothered about us bringing anyone in during the transfer window. Much more important that we don't lose anyone.

Derek 100% deserves manager of the month as well! (If not manager of the YEAR at this rate considering where we ‘finished’ last season!)

However I’d rather sack off the individual accolades, and I’m sure so would Derek and the players, if it meant we stayed a couple of percent more under the radar on our promotion push! 8-)
