family meal O/T

the good lady decided that we should have a family meal ( managed to delay from today to tomorrow), but i'm at a loss as to where to go in the area, family meal is adults so no ball pools climbing frames etc required LOL, walking frames maybe LOL

anyone shed any light for a decent family meal not too up market and not too naff

The Dog & Partridge Pub @ Bare is OK the last time our gang had a run out.

There's some decent deals on the food i.e. buy 2 adult meals get a kids free and the food although fairly basic is pretty good.

I've always gone through the week when there's been 6/7 of us and there's always been plenty of room - not sure what it will be like at the week-end.

Went there on thursday night and the food was good, the Burgers are huge!

1725 in Lancaster is good, it does very nice tapas.

The Palatine is really nice, went the other day for lunch and had a very tasty Moroccan fish stew.

Havn't tried it yet but i would think it would be similar to Sun Hotel in Lancaster as it is owned by same person and knowing Matt he usually has things done to a pretty good standard as you can tell by the transformation of the place. There is always the York Hoel who could have good meal deals and half price beer this afternoon for the Arsenal v Chelsea game .

My choice would either be Ship Inn at Sandside or Globe Inn at Overton.

I have delivered to the kitchens of all, bar Blue Mountain, and would eat in all of them


Nearly forgot the place I'll be eating in today, Kings Arms Morecambe.

I kid you not, fantastic food, good prices. Brand new sparkling kitchen.

There's a nice little Italian restaurant in Fox Studios area but i cant remember name .Waterwitch also used to be owned by Matt Jacksom but he sold it to Mitchell's last year so dont know if food is still as good . Just had really nice Mega Breakfast in Dave's kitchen but he has to close now and the only thing on the menu will be Shrimps .

I think carvery is on most days now Sean , went there on Monday after showing girlfriend that quaint little place Sunderland Point . She didn't believe me when i told her that people actually live there as tide was coming over the road she just said " Oh my God " . Well the food was good .

But my best bets would be up the Lune Valley - the Lunesdale Arms in Tunstall and the Highwayman in Burrow.

I went with my wife a few weeks back - pleasantly surprised with the decor, tasteful and modern classic.
The menu was varied and interesting. I could have chosen about 5 things off it which I fancied that day.
The staff were friendly and pleasant and knowledgable too - to a certain extent...
I made 2 choices - one wasn't available as they'd run out, fair enough, and the other was a black pudding started with pea puree, but they didn't have the pea puree ready...

The wait for the food was a bit too long, but, when the food did come, it was really nice.

I would try it again.
