Then there was retaliation which comes under 'violent conduct'. The ONLY sanction for 'violent conduct'. The cheating histrionics of their player was dreadful, but the ref had zero alternative, the red card was correct. Violent conduct is not defined as 'extreme' or 'severe', it 'just is'.

If you want to question the referee's competence, I'd question what appeared to be an elbow to the head that poleaxed Wildig, leaving him needing a hospital visit for concussion and queried broken jaw. That should have been a red card, but wasn't even a foul. The game should have been 10 v 10 for much of the time.

+1.
Do we know if we are appealing ? ?

Assuming we are in the play offs and a smaller crowd is allowed in, i hope we don't get Newport as they will be under Welsh restrictions :o

Which positions normally play each other, e.g. 4v7. Or is that decided by the authorities at the time ?

Yes 4 v 7 5 v 6

4 and 5 are away in first legs and have home advantage for the 2nd legs when extra time and penalties may well happen.
